Putin's night of shame: Russia's advance slows even further as 'demoralised' troops suffer heavy losses, Kyiv dismisses farcical new 'humanitarian corridor' offer after buses were ATTACKED, and CHILDREN are killed in latest air strikes

Ukraine's military, giving an overview of combat as the war enters its 13th day, said Russian advances have 'slowed significantly' even as US intelligence says Putin has now committed '100 per cent' of the force he assembled on the border into battle without making significant territorial gains since late last week.

Defensive operations continue in the north, east and south of Ukraine, the military said, with all major cities other than Kherson - which fell last week - in Ukrainian hands. Russian troops are 'demoralised and increasingly tend to looting and violations of international humanitarian law,' commanders added.

It has also emerged that another Russian commander - Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, first deputy commander of Russia's 41st army - was killed in Kharkiv on Monday, just the latest in an increasingly long line of senior military figures to lose their lives in Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces said Tuesday they had repulsed a Russian attack on Izium city in the Kharkiv region, and outgunned troops have been trying to hold back a Russian push up from the east and south in an attempt to encircle Kyiv.

Russian forces 'suffered losses and retreated' in Izium after they 'reigned terror in the city by bombing civilian premises and infrastructure,' the military said.

One Ukrainian paratrooper told of 'hand-to-hand' combat in Irpin, saying 'we are trying to push (Russian soldiers) out, but I don't know if we'll be fully able to do it'.

An international legion of volunteers has descended on Ukraine to fight the Russians.

But the Pentagon said Monday that Moscow was on a recruiting mission for its own foreign fighters - Syrians who fought for President Bashar al-Assad.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday said he will not send conscripts or reservists to fight in the conflict.

Putin appears to be sensitive to potential widespread public opposition in Russia, and claims he's not using draftees for the operation. You gotta wonder why it seems to be bogging down.

I’m not convinced it’s bogged down in how it’s being projected by the press... or even if it is anymore than what Russia might have anticpated possible. Putin saw clearly all the buildup of troops, ammunitions, heavy machinery etc. for these past years into Ukraine and other neighboring Nato countries. HE spoke about it often at various G-7 meetings and other International venues if you followed his onterviews and such through these past 8 yrs and prior.

We had a Thread called the “Matrix” several years ago and we chatted about it there.... as well China and Russia were tip toeing around each other as well.

I don’t trust them. But the Russians claim they lost 500 men killed in 7 days. We lost 174 men over 6 weeks during Iraqi Freedom. They’re not off to a good start, even if they’re not bogged down.

Assuming official Russian casualties are true - 500 in 1 week - 500 is 1/2 the average Russian KIA in Afghanistan for an entire year. I suspect Putin is going to run into serious problems taking casualty numbers at ~25x its reported Afghan War rate per week with half the Russian population that it had during the Afghan campaign. All those single son families are gonna be screaming bloody murder.

When you compare Afghanistan to Vietnam, it’s remarkable how much less punishment in body count terms the Russians were able to take before hitting their uncle point. The official Russian KIA number in Afghanistan was 13,000 over about 10 years, which is roughly 1/5 the US number in Vietnam. When you think about the coercive powers of the totalitarian Soviet state vs the anything goes milieu of 60’s and 70’s America - it’s amazing the US hung in there so long.

Ukraine, Egypt, the Philippines, etc, in fact all countries on the globe, are capable of being captured.

Only France cannot be captured before it surrenders.

Things are not going to plan fir Putin. However, the Russian army isn’t on the verge of defeat.

The longer the war takes, the more Putin will look to take any win.

My belief is that the war will end in the next few weeks. Putin gets the black sea coast plus donbas. He doesn’t get a government he wants in Kyiv.

Ukrainia becomes a frozen conflict, they don’t join the EU or NATO.

Poland continues to have 1 million refugees fir another few years.

Fierce Ukrainian honey badgers defending their country vs Syrian ragheads getting paid $50 per week by Putin.

“HOUSTON, WE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM”

Wait till they find out the Ukrainians dip their bullets in pig fat. Stupid cannon fodder is the only thing the rabid mad dog Putin has at this point.

Send in cannon fodder conscripts. Keep the more reliable troops in reserve allowing the conscripts to reveal enemy strengths and weaknesses. The apparent incompetence of the conscripts give the enemy a false confidence that is crushed by more hardened and reliable troops using strategy development from real time combat action from the cannon fodder.

They have certainly lost more than 500 if Ukrainians are picking off high ranking Russkies. They nailed another one tonight.

Russia claims 500 according the are article Ukraine claims 12k. I tend to think the number is more than 500 but 12k seems a bit high.

It’s a stupid proxy war. It’s the US supplying weapons to Poland and other border countries. Shortly there will be an agreement they’re going to try to turn Russia into Iraq. Russian Oil can be exported in exchange for Food and other imports. This is a globally catastrophic path. Again we are travelling along the path to repeat the mistakes that lead to world war two. Except that russia has a nuclear stockpile and that they’re allied with china. In scale it’s like world war 2 is a prius and world war 3 is a long haul 18 wheel full of lithium batteries!

If Putin puts Muslim Syrians there it will make the Ukrainians truly furious; memories of WW-2 and asian invaders destroying everything.

Not to make too much light of this situation, if Iranian Assassins were successful in taking out John Bolton, my question would be, did anyone notice Bolton was gone ??

one thing I do know, Russia has neither the military nor the money to occupy Ukraine for long. And whatever government Russia puts in place if they even get to that point, would never last. This is a major problem for the Putin regime.

“they’re going to try to turn Russia into Iraq”

I don’t think that is in the cards, unless someone is really stupid. The Poles aren’t stupid, they predicted all this, including the foolishness the Germans got into.

Yeah something’s off, I’ve seen articles with 9,000-13,000 Russian troops killed. Not believing much here..

They already seem to have sent their best, including the “active” conscripts. Russia has relatively few professional soldiers in its maneuver units (armor, infantry, field artillery). Most of the pros are specialists in tech branches or in the Air Force and Navy.

To win a war of attrition vs Ukraine I think they will have to call up the conscript reservists.
