OJ will find the car thieves for Hertz as soon as he's done catching the real killer. LOL

Don't know if I have ever rented from Hertz, probably not, however, now I NEVER will.
One wonders how this could get so far out of hand?
Then again, American Kangaroo Courts, no surprise.

Certain people rent a Hertz car and never bring it back, or months late and the car is trash. This is a huge problem for all rental cars companies. I suspect it is MUCH worse for Hertz and others than we will ever know.

I saw a story about this on the local Houston news last year. I don’t know why anybody would rent from these jokers.

I am not a big fan of congressionial investigations of corporate practices, but this may be the rare exception where Hertz should be singled out and investigated for this systemic practice ruining people’s lives. Definitely a legal class action should be filed against them as well. I do believe one was filed Oh, and the board should immediately fire the CEO and Chairman as well. State AGs should also be suing them civilly and, if they find their actions criminal, they should also bring a criminal action. Only Hertz has this maliciously negligent practice, not Avis or the other rental companies.

I don’t get it. How is this not cleared up immediately at the scene when the driver has all his papers in order and an otherwise clean record?!?!
To: grundle
Hertz sounds like it hurts.
I've only needed to rent a car twice, both times from Enterprise.

Note that it DID NOT happen under Mark Frissora.
I worked for Mark F. A real stand up guy. But he got booted (unfairly, I believe) from Hertz after moving it to SW Florida.

Sounds like somebody has it out for Hertz. We use them every time we travel, and their service is second to none, with competitive pricing.
We are in their Gold Plus program, so maybe that has something to do with it.
To: grundle
I seem to recall stories about rental companies wanting to hit customers with vehicle damage claims for damage caused while the car was still in the company lot too.
Totally random aside: it would be something if doings like this “stolen” car thing were found to be targeting people for political ends.

It’s useful to take a quick set of phone pics before turn-in.
