Former Attorney General William Barr claims in a new book that he yelled at his boss, then-President Donald Trump over a discussion regarding Hunter Biden shortly before the November 2020 election.
“In his upcoming book, ‘One Damn Thing After Another,’ Barr recalled that in October 2020, Trump called soon after a Newsmax segment on Hunter Biden’s laptop,” Fox News reported Wednesday.
“Reports about the computer revolved around emails that appeared to connect Joe Biden to his son’s business dealings when the elder Biden was vice president,” the report continued.
“You know this stuff from Hunter Biden’s laptop?” Trump asked Barr, the book says.
“Mr. President, I can’t talk about that, and I am not going to,” Barr says he responded “sharply.”
Hunter Biden was reportedly already under federal investigation at the time for various allegations including potential tax issues. Barr wrote in his book that Trump didn’t appreciate his tone.
“You know, if that was one of my kids,” Trump began before Barr cut him off quickly.
“Dammit, Mr. President, I am not going to talk to you about Hunter Biden. Period!” Barr fired back, in a raised voice.
After a brief silence, Trump got off the phone; Barr wrote that his chief of staff, Will Levi, who was in the room during the call, was shocked.
“You yelled at the President?” Levi asked, with Barr nodding in confirmation, the book claims.

They were all scared of the Saturday Night Massacre, where it would appear that the president is firing those investigating him.
But that was their whole game plan. Manipulate an investigation (convincing or conniving Sessions to recuse himself, allowing Rosenstein to appoint a Special Council), then threatening the president with impeachment if he dares to fire the Special Council or his boss, Rosenstein. So the president authority over the Justice Dept. was basically removed.
It was the same with Barr. He was under the same phony impression that Justice is part of the Independent Judiciary, which it is not. He was a good old boy protecting his buddies.
Can you be more specific about his Bush/GOP dealings? Also, isn’t Barr a Bush totie?
I don’t blame Trump that the entire bloated government has become a sort of mafia.
How much do you trust your government now? Do you believe that they are mostly caring ‘public servants’ who just want to contribute to society, OR do you believe that they view themselves as apart from society, better than others, and entitled to the ‘spoils’ of their positions in government - whether elected or not?
I do not trust my government any more in any way, shape or form.
That saddens and disillusions me in ways I cannot express.
I was never a blind follower of government, but I didn’t reject anything that came out of it, root and branch, like I do now.

Indeed, in 1999 a perceptive essay by historian Walter Russell Mead on "The Jacksonian Tradition" seems almost to have predicted Trump's emergence as a political figure and his improbable victory in 2016. There is a custom that a new president picks for his office a statue of a predecessor whom he especially admires. Trump picked a statue of Andrew Jackson.
I was probably one of the last people to fully accept the use of the moniker “Deep State”, but that changed. It is pretty clear that “The Swamp” and its inhabitants the “Deep State” denizens, exist, and are dangerous to this Republic.

LOL...I admit to never having been a fan of Andrew Jackson, but I will say this: I DID admire his absolutely, hostile, belligerent, uncompromising attitude he took towards those he viewed as enemies, and his personal toughness.
He reminds me of an old, stringy, independent, strutting, and aggressive, and dangerous rooster. Too old to be cooked in a pot, and too tough to safely catch and kill.
Patton was flawed, but I have taken the view that we are all flawed in many way. Patton was so damned interesting and a useful tool of war, that his faults almost add to his persona.
Almost exactly the way I view Churchill.

Here's a Patton story from just before WW II. A critical war game exercise in Louisiana was held in which Patton had the chance to demonstrate the ability of armor formations to operate independently and strike deep into enemy territory. At the time, this was a highly disputed idea in military circles.
As is often the case in such exercises, either by oversight or design, the outcome seemed rigged. Patton was not provided enough fuel for his tanks to carry out the intended maneuver. Undeterred, Patton, who was wealthy, made sure that he had enough cash on him to fuel up his tanks at civilian roadside gas stations.
Patton thereby surprised his adversary and won the exercise. The result was impressive enough for the Army to decide to develop and adopt the new tanks, equipment, and tactics for the armored formations that Patton used to drive through France and into Germany.

I think Trump, like these men, is a big-picture, strategic planner type. This type of personality is not very common but almost non-existent in DC. Mostly over-educated, not that smart, administrative types. Trump was probably a complete anomaly to them.
Patton was amazing.
I loved the story where he got kicked in the head by a horse while playing polo, and while severely concussed, took his family on a voyage in a sailboat from California to Hawaii...and didn’t recall doing it later.
Completely irresponsible, but...as Napoleon was fond of looking for that characteristic in his Generals, Patton was...lucky.
So it’s gonna take Barr 600 pages to say how he got nothing done? Maybe he could have reprinted some of those Wit and Wisdom of Spiro Agnew books-—totally blank. I think I still have one. Maybe I’ll just paste on a Barr cover?

Pick someone who’s not on anyone’s “approved list”, and if they (mcconnell/schumer) fight it, use the bully pulpit to hammer them over the head, paint them as obstructionists, etc.

That was my point. What you said is what Trump should have done with Barr and every other personnel decision he was coerced into making. He knew, or should’ve known who Barr and the rest were. But he didn’t fight and call out these rats like he did when he was first running for office. I don’t know why but it’s why I don’t let him off as innocent for this mess we are in.
LOL, well Barr your book won’t survive the Biden’s War on America. Biden’s policies can only be explained by Biden being compromised by both Russia and China.
Pence seems to be giving Barr a run for his money.
