Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) announced Saturday he would be backing a bill banning Russian oil imports.

The senator said he would co-sponsor the Ban Russian Energy Imports Act after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pleaded in a virtual meeting with Congress Saturday for the U.S. to stop buying Russian oil.

The bipartisan bill was previously introduced by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), a senior member of that committee.

“The United States cannot continue to purchase millions of barrels of oil while Putin wages an unprovoked and unjustified war on Ukraine,” Durbin said.

“The Ban Russian Energy Imports Act would declare a national emergency with respect to Russian aggression and immediately prohibit the import of Russian energy products. This bipartisan bill shows the U.S. Senate’s commitment to stand behind the brave Ukrainian people,” he added.

These people are suicidal idiots. Block coal, oil and nuclear, then ban Russian oil and expect Unicorns to provide energy.

The Left wanted $7.50 gas to get people out of ICE cars.

Gas will cost half again as much if we ban Russian oil
imports.

It’s like doing away with coal, natural gas, the Keystone
pipe line, and refusing to give new drilling permits, and
thinking all that’s happening now is Putin’s fault.

The Left couldn’t add one plus one and get a good sum if
their life depended on it.

There’s simply no rational thinking.

Just think. Americans are going to have to compete with 35 million illegal aliens for fuel. Hey America! Had enough of that “refugee” bullsh*t yet?

brilliant political move by the leftist Democrats so they can force the GOP to share in the blame for skyrocketing gasoline prices ...

Sure. Math is racist after all.

Is it even possible to realize how stupid someone has to be
to think that?

Russian oil is 10% of our use. I don’t know who sells/uses it besides Lukoil gas stations. Which are franchises. Which will go out of business.

Maybe a better solution is to encourage the top-three gas retailers to supply these franchises so they can reject deliveries from Lukoil. And find out where the rest of the 10% goes, and do the same thing. Getting private industry involved may be easier than legislation.

When I hear the names Durbin, Manchin, and Murkowski I immediately have a fear of mistrust? Why is that?

GOP MUST attempt to amend this bill to require XL pipeline construction and require Forrest Gump administration to issue drill permits ... otherwise they should not vote for it ...
