HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, put out the following statement after a call with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy today:
“The Ukrainian people and President Zelenskyy are showing the world what a free country looks like when fighting for its survival against totalitarian aggression, even at overwhelming odds. We have all been moved by their bravery and heroism.
“It is incumbent upon the United States to ensure that our Ukrainian allies have what they need to defend themselves, and that Putin does not have resources he needs to fund his war machine.
“President Zelenskyy told us his top priority is that the Ukrainians need to take back their skies, which are being used by Putin to wage war against cities and murder civilians. The United States and our allies should move immediately to provide them above all else with fighter jets, as well as with Stingers and other anti-aircraft assets. We must also continue supplying them with additional lethal aid, especially Javelins. Democrats in the Senate need to end their delays, and the Biden administration needs to cease withholding actionable intelligence from Kyiv.
“Meanwhile, the United States should immediately implement an oil and gas embargo on Russia. If the Biden administration won't do so on its own, Congress should mandate that they do so. As President Zelenskyy told us, boycotting Russian oil and gas would be the most potent sanction we can impose, by far, and it is also the only economic sanction that can tenably and quickly affect Russia's ability to continue financing its aggression.
“In the coming days Congress will focus on aid to Ukraine. We should consider a standalone Ukraine military aid package to get them the assistance they need as quickly as possible. Ukraine, its people, and its leaders will not survive if we settle for half-measures and delay.”

The Ukrainian people are showing the world what it means to fight for freedom. Their bravery & heroism is inspiring.
I’m working to ensure that Congress either provides or facilitates getting Ukraine what they need especially fighter jets, and also Stingers & Javelins. 1/x— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) March 5, 2022
We must get aid to Ukraine NOW. No half-measures.
The US needs to IMMEDIATELY implement an oil and gas embargo on Russia. It's the most potent sanction available and the best chance to deny Putin the ability to continue financing its aggression. 2/x— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) March 5, 2022
Open the KeystoneXL Pipeline, and tell those folks to all solve their own problems, Ted
We have enough to fix, and spend on fixing, here.
Who’s gonna fly those fighter jets?
Didn’t Putin today say that such an action would be an act of war?
Just have Afghanistan send them what we left, there.
Lord help US.
The most important sanction the US could apply would for the majority of everyday Americans to look at every item they purchase, and if it says “made in China,” put it back on the shelf. Hurt both the Chinese and the globalists.

Moron. Ukraine is a bastion of Soros and DC and democrat corruption. It has a healthy helping of nazism and sex trafficking as well. It is a money laundering ATM for Biden and the democrats. The darling of the globalists.
Ted is a simpleton.
Does the US not buying Russian gas and crude really make a difference? Of do they just route it to the ChiComs? Expert opinions requested...
There is a fallacy in the Cruz statement.
Planes require trained pilots. Where are the trained pilots
If a Ukranian Air Force Lieutenant in Nevada pushes a button launching a missile into Russia, is it not a Ukrainian defensive action?
Someone should break the news to Vlad that invading other sovereign Nations is already an act of war.
Our Senate is filled with easily manipulated fools
If he fought half as hard for this country, I might be impressed. With our southern border open to all comers, he remains silent.
Parachute Ted into the Ukraine and watch the personnel flee, theirs and ours.
He meant with us.
But you knew that already.
Stingers are 40,000 each. Javelins are 180,000 each. And these ass clowns are handing them out like candy. Meanwhile how many people in America have lost businesses, jobs, etc.
After all, it’s not like we are 30 trillion in debt or anything.
Of course, Putin's goals don't end with Ukraine...
Putin launched a war and says something else would be an act of war.
That’s the line he already crossed.
Hey Ted, Ukraine is looking for some foreign fighters.
