Army Col (Ret) MacGregor: U.S. Should "Stop Shipping Weapons And Stop Encouraging Ukrainians To Die In A Hopeless Endeavor"

TREY GOWDY: Why do you think Putin is doing this? What is his end game?

COL. DOUG MACGREGOR: Well, Vladimir Putin is carrying through on something that he has been warning us about at least for the last 15 years, which is he will not tolerate U.S. forces or missiles on his borders. Much as we would not tolerate Russian missiles or troops in Cuba.

And we ignored him and he finally acted. He was not going to allow Ukraine, under any circumstances, to join NATO.

Whether or not it is hopeless, that is for the Ukrainians to decide.

So right! Thanks for such a concise and powerful statement.

“it was always about Russia’s desire to expand”.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Putin wants the return to its old USSR borders.

That’s expansion but justified in his warped mind.

While the heroic fighting the Ukrainians are waging appeals to the emotions, especially as portrayed by the media, it is likely going to end with the country destroyed economically, thousands killed, millions refugees and an unstable sore spot for generations to come.

Without air cover the Ukes can’t wim. Surrounded cities will get blown up. Borders will get closed and nothing will get in or out.

Might take months but that’s what will happen.

They should strike a deal before this happens.

The analogies to our revolution forget that England was across the Atlantic and the French gave us naval support. Scotland wasn’t as fortunate.

I can’t believe conservative politicians want to go to war with that senile old man as the leader.

My son recently finished a 4 year enlistment in the Marines. He did not re-enlist, and with Brandon/Austin/Milley etc. in charge, I think that was a wise decision.

First-term Marines are slow to sign on for another enlistment

my son had a friend who was in the army. The kid had a boss who got him drunk and re-signed up for another hitch. The kid did not take it sitting down but went to the camp commander with a list of witnesses that he had been railroaded. He got out with an apology and an honorable discharge.

The kid is out and doing very welll. No need to be in the service, there are plenty of great money jobs for men with discipline and drive.

I agree, but for those who want to serve. it’s a shame we have such poor leadership at the top.

Maybe the only way to get the truth out to make people think is for them to pretend they’re outraged???

Is this guy a Russian mole ? He’s been spouting Putin propaganda since day 1.

FRiend, in my years of sifting usable information from mountains of data, I came to appreciate two maxims penned by 12th Century philosopher Moses Maimonides:
"Accept the truth from whatever source it comes." and
"Truth does not become more true by virtue of the fact that the entire world agrees with it, nor less so even if the whole world disagrees with it."

Times change, situations change, alliances change, and sometimes even people change. Thinking for oneself requires questioning old biases to see if they are still valid. Sometimes they are; sometimes they're not.

“The guy just wants to reconstitute the Russian Empire/USSR”

That’s what a relative of mine wanted. Crazy Democrats.

The argument that Russia felt "threatened" is simply ridiculous. An alliance that Putin knew was unwilling even to defend Ukraine certainly wasn't going to be willing to invade Russia itself. He just knows that NATO membership acts as a limit on Russian expansionism, and he wants to expand. Simple as that.

How is that ridiculous? Since the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, NATO has absorbed 14 former buffer nations into its anti-Russian military alliance. NATO promised at its Bucharest Conference in 2008 that it also intended to extend membership to Ukraine and Georgia. Russia, having recovered from its 1990s collapse, immediately declared a red line. Russia knew (as we did) that NATO control of the Black Sea - and seizure of its only warm water port of Sevastopol, Crimea - would pose an existential threat to Russia itself. But hey, it's not "expansionism" when we do it.

NATO's long term strategy to encircle, strangle and subjugate Russia is two-faceted. EU membership provides the economic weapons, while NATO supplies the military muscle. We should remember that economic warfare is still war, and can easily lead to military retaliation. Nor should we forget that Russia will use every weapon in its arsenal to defend its homeland. Who wouldn't?

Ukraine has nothing to do with American independence in the 18th century.

I am sorry for your loss. Analogies are a useful way to present an idea. Some people sadly are unable to comprehend them.

It is war—the rule always is that “no war plan survives contact with the enemy”.

That said, I am convinced that Putin will achieve his objectives—his objectives, not what Freeper mind-readers claim are his objectives—soon enough.

sending the ukes arms is just getting more of them killed.

sending the ukes arms is just getting more of the Russians killed.

I fixed it for you. MacGregor just doesn't want Putin's army to get chewed up by the Ukrainians. That would make his career look pretty silly, and the Pentagon and CIA analysts look like fools.
