Two more Russian commanders have been killed on the frontline in Ukraine after a top general was shot dead by snipers, a Western official has claimed.
Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky, 47, was reportedly killed by a Ukrainian sniper while the latest deaths, since Russia invaded last week, were also both senior officers.
One was a divisional commander and the other was a regimental commander, the Telegraph has reported.

Well thats the obvois lol, but you look for nods of other men when someone speaks, troops instinctively pulling hands out of pockets, straightening postures, facing the person as they go by rather showing their back...
But it's the thought that counts.
What about Lyudmila Pavlichenko? She fought for the Soviets, but she was Ukrainian.

[Given that (IMHO) Russian military tactics really rely deeply on the leadership to make things happen, is it possible that the Uke snipers know this, believing that no one at a lower rank will take charge of a battle?]
The Russians fought the Germans like men possessed because the alternative was literal extinction, given that the Germans had plans to kill every last Russian and repopulate the territory with Germans. The invasion of Ukraine is more like WWI in one respect - it seems like the Tsar’s vanity project. While casualties are a fraction of WWI, the Russian grunt has many alternatives.
No need, just shoot the well fed ones and you'll likely get someone of rank.
From what I have seen, the troops are deployed linearly.
That is, the Russians have literally miles of exposed flanks.
I’ve been listening to Charlie Kirk and the issue of false information...unfortunately from the Ukrainian side. We have to be smart, don’t believe everything we hear. Like most news reports, the first ones are usually wrong.
Wow! Ukraine is really kicking their ass. I guess all those cities aren’t really falling into the hands of the Russians.
This is getting to be like Climate Change and COVID. Just constant BS.
This is a smart move by Ukraine. Russia has never believed in delegation of mission; in other words, only senior officers know the objective of a mission or operation (there is no cascading chain-of-command as to the objective). In the Russian military (as in the Soviet military before it), Russian (or Soviet) troops would pretty much stop if their leadership was disabled. Russian troops are great followers, but show no initiative.
It is not like the US military, which expects subordinates to complete the mission even if senior officers are taken out. Because of this, subordinates are apprised of the mission. Thus, for example, if the mission is a company-level operation, and the officers and senior NCOs are taken out, junior NCOs know the mission and will carry it out.
The Russians have been moving to a more Western model. The initial green troops with old equipment were probably working on the old model of leadership.
They’ve been working to change that in the past decade, actually. Along with their gear paradigm.

Probably not much of an insignia. But a trained sniper remaining concealed & observing a unit probably can pick out the senior leaders if not the actual commander.
3 dozen? First I heard of that. And you all call them the propagandists...
Exactly why the US should put marksmanship back into the High School sports curriculum.
Interesting.
I’ve been out of the US military for almost 50 years, so it is interesting to see that our perennial foe is “evolving.” I’d still give our troops the edge.
What!
And put those icky guns in the hands of <shudder> hormone infested teenagers! Yee gods. What are you thinking!?
</sarcasm>
Yeah, our troops being taught to walk in heels and that picking the correct one from 57 genders is more important than killing our enemies and taking their stuff?
Maaaaaaybe want to re-evaluate that. Also, Ivan would be pretty dumb to sit on his arse and not redevelop himself over the past three decades. Gulf War I was a wakeup call for him. Ivan isn’t usually that stupid.
“Yeah, our troops being taught to walk in heels and that picking the correct one from 57 genders is more important than killing our enemies and taking their stuff?”
I realize sarcasm when I see it; and I like sarcasm.
However, if you are not being sarcastic, I assume you would be man enough to tell my nephew (US Army, now in Germany) that, to his face; and to his fellow soldiers’ faces. I assume you would be man enough to tell that to my cousin’s nephew, a US Navy SEAL who was KIA (of course, you can’t because he is dead). I assume you would be man enough to tell it to the “kid” whose family lives across the street; only, he is a kid no longer, but a US Marine.
I have never seen such rip-roaring propaganda as that put out by Soros-backed Ukrainian media.
And I was around during WWII.
It seems almost criminal to not believe the government of a country that has been invaded. Just troubling times to not believe even our own government. But, here we are.
