During a portion of an interview with NBC on Thursday, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for telling a group of students that them wearing masks was theater.
At an event on Wednesday, DeSantis told a group of students, “You do not have to wear those masks. I mean, please take them off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything, and we’ve got to stop with this COVID theater. So, if you want to wear it, fine. But this is ridiculous.”

He did give them a choice... what a dumb statement...
Rochelle Walensky is an experienced thespian and gas-lighter.
Well maybe they weren’t and have NEVER been comfortable wearing a mask. Geesh.
He told them to wear it if they want to.
She has lost all credibility as to dispensing medical advice. It is far healthier — mentally as well as physically — to simply ignore what she (and most everyone associated with the fully self-discredited CDC, for that matter), think, do or say.
Odd these people scream choice on masks but mandate the jab for the greater good?
By the same token, students should be comfortable NOT wearing a mask.
If someone is in my space wearing a mask I will ask them to take it off or leave.
The shoe is on the other foot now.
What about kids who were made uncomfortable to go without one for 2 years because they’ve been ashamed into wearing them.
Liberals ALWAYS projecting.
Shouldn’t she be under Indictment already for the deliberate false information regarding face masks and a respiratory virus she has made??
I would thoroughly enjoy telling witless walensky explicitly where she can stuff her mask.
It wasn’t their choice before the Republicans fought back.
Now, the governor was just rebutting the lies spread by the maskers so the students would know the truth.
How dare you de-program our little kids.
Her and the CDC. We had similar numbers with Covid last summer and they were still screening that wearing mask but it is close to election season and they know they have to end it.
You freedom loving Americans just don’t get it—if it’s good enough for a billion Chinese living under the yoke of communism to wear them, it’s good enough for American children to be forced to wear them at an early age.
Even funnier was the woke mom ranting about DeSantis telling students to remove their masks while she was unmasked.
