Heckling and Exploiting the State of the Union

Then Biden added, "One of those soldiers was my son, Major Beau Biden," and then he said, "We don't know for sure if a burn pit was the cause of his brain cancer." No one asks whether Beau was anywhere near burn pits in Iraq. No fact-checkers stir.

Heckling a president during the State of the Union (especially a Democrat president) is not polite or politically smart. But the liberal journalists who were scandalized by the heckling never take exception to Biden's very repetitive citations of his son, so much it reeks of exploitation.

The president implied his son was a soldier among "the world's fittest and best-trained warriors." Beau Biden served honorably in Iraq in 2008 and 2009 (coinciding with Biden's campaign for vice president). But he served as a lawyer, as a major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.

More than a few conservatives drew a different inference. Biden made no explicit mention of Afghanistan or the American lives lost there, and so when Psaki said Biden "didn't have time to touch on everything," it sounded like there was no time in a 62-minute speech to mention those warriors. But there was time to work in Beau.

When the families of those 13 war dead assembled at Dover Air Force Base in August, several were disturbed by the president's energetic citation of Beau. "When he just kept talking about his son so much it was just -- my interest was lost in that," said Mark Schmitz. Biden also angered the families as he was also caught repeatedly looking at his watch as the bodies were unloaded one by one.

On the morning after the big speech, someone posted an edited video on Twitter that underscored how aggressively Biden has brought up his son's death, with a slick set of choking-up-and-talking points. MSNBC and everyone else in the liberal media routinely enable this exercise ... at the same time that they routinely ignore every scandalous new development about Hunter Biden, the son who can't be painted as G.I. Joe.

Thank you for an informative reply. F.R. sorely needs a return to civility.

My son spent a year in Iraq.

I said, and reiterate, that his constant use of his death to make political points is disgusting. His attempt to paint his family as a Gold Star family, which they are not, is disgusting. And his treatment of the families of the 13 patriots killed by his bungling in Afghanistan is even more disgusting.

I totally agree. He's always done this, going back to the death of his first wife and daughter in an automobile accident. Biden's wife pulled out in front of a trucker and the car was creamed, killing Biden's wife and daughter and injuring Hunter and the saintly Beau. For years Biden claimed the accident was caused by the trucker being drunk. He brought it up many times in speeches as a ploy to build sympathy for himself as a victim. Turns out the trucker had not been drinking and the accident was due to negligence on Mrs. Biden's part. Even after Biden was told this, he continued to tell the story and continued to allege that the trucker was drunk. What kind of person does this? He's doing the same damned thing with Beau.

I don't know what he actually feels about Beau's premature death, but constantly using it in an attempt to gain sympathy is truly disgusting. Biden's whole life is a Baron Munchausen-like collection of self aggrandizing lies, exaggerations and embellishments just to enhance his thin resume which includes few real accomplishments.

But the liberal journalists who were scandalized by the heckling never take exception to …

The person who runs the House, Nancy Pelosi who set a precedent when she tore up the SOTU speech and was questioned about it ONCE. Her lack of decorum has eliminated the Dems/media standing to say anything about anyone in the Chamber.

All this sturm und drang about the Republicas’ lack of decorum reminds me of the knife fight scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. “Rules? In a knife fight? No rules!” followed up by a surprise kick to the crotch. The Dems have been knife fighting for a long time while we stand upright like a 19th century boxer explaining the fine points of the Queensbury rules.

Burn pits?? -State of the Union Address???

1. I’ve NEVER heard of “burn pits” prior to this SOTU.
2. Burn pits are a NATIONAL crisis? Since when?
3. If our military is stationing our soldiers near the, it’s a MILITARY problem

None of this adds up.

Besides that, … I find it VERY odd that it’s these SPEECH writers who CONSTANTLY inject Plugs’ dead wife and son into the speeches they give him to read. Not simply to mourn them; it’s ALWAYS a set-up to sympathy for one of their political agendas.
And yet, he still does it.. Just plain weird.

Its OK to heckle Biden because he’s not the President. Hes a Manchurian candidate. He and his body double and the whole illegal belligerent force need to be physically removed and tried for treason in a military tribunal. Its coming very soon.

Pelosi’s act of ripping up the speech on national TV is her legacy and perhaps the most vile act ever in Congress.

Amid all the scrutiny, Joe Biden promised last year that if he was elected president, no-one in his family would hold a job or have a business relationship with a foreign corporation or foreign government.

Questions about Hunters potential conflicts of interest by a senior State Department official we’re raised as far back as 2015.

Joe Biden’s son defends foreign dealings

US Republican lawmakers launched an investigation and found last year that Hunter’s work for the Ukrainian firm had been “problematic” - but there wasn’t evidence that US foreign policy was influenced by it.

No criminal charges were proven against Burisma either. The company issued a statement in 2017 saying “all legal proceedings and pending criminal allegations” against it were closed.

Last year, Yuriy Lutsenko, the prosecutor in Ukraine who succeeded Viktor Shokin, told the BBC that there was no reason to investigate the Bidens under Ukrainian law.

There is nothing illegal about sitting on a board of a company whilst family members serve in government.

Hunter Biden’s lawyers said in statement in October 2019 that he had undertaken “these business activities independently. He did not believe it appropriate to discuss them with his father, nor did he.”

Hunter told the New Yorker magazine that on the only occasion he had mentioned Burisma: “Dad said, ‘I hope you know what you are doing.’”

Bidens Gold Star Father act is a flop.

Son Beau had a cushy JAG office in Iraq. .......died of a brain tumor.....not war injuries.

And you believe that story? Biden(s) and those covering for them lie about Everything, even when it serves no discernible purpose.

You think the same things would be said if it was Donald Jr. or Eric Trump doing this, being in those same paid positions as Hunter Biden?

“Not simply to mourn them; it’s ALWAYS a set-up to sympathy for one of their political agendas.”

Also to insulate Biden from criticism. It’s classic passive-aggressive emotional abuser behavior, called “playing the victim”.

“There is nothing illegal about sitting on a board of a company whilst family members serve in government.”

In and of itself, perhaps not. But it’s certainly illegal to be an unregistered foreign agent, or to accept bribes in exchange for influence, and your protestations to the contrary against those allegations don’t hold a lot of water in light of the fact that we have a confession from Joe Biden himself that he exerted his influence as Vice President to get the prosecutor investigating his son fired before the investigation was complete.

Also, illegal and unethical are two separate things. It is most definitely unethical to create the “appearance of impropriety” for a government official, which the Biden-Ukraine fiasco is a classic example of.

All else aside, this is VERY true.

You are conflating Biden’s use of the memory of his son for political purposes - emotional manipulation - with your own loss.

Anyone else knows his history of this practice and agrees with the critique. The glee expressed by Pelosi is evidence of this manipulation and the left’s support of it.

The glaring question is why you do not and apparently agree that said manipulation is tolerable on any account, particularly the exaggerations/lies, thereby supporting leftist propaganda tactics.
