EMMANUEL MACRON has renewed his calls for a collective EU military force in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The French President has long pushed for a collective EU army, saying back in 2018 that European citizens could not be fully protected without a “true, European army”. The UK has always gone up against such plans, even prior to the Brexit vote.
Along with a number of the Baltic states, the UK has argued that an EU army could undermine the efficiency - and infringe on the jurisdiction - of NATO.
Speaking on French national television on Wednesday night, Mr Macron said the Russian invasion had changed the terrain, and the arguments, for a so-called EU army.

Putin has done the impossible. He’s revived NATO from death and gotten the EU countries to finally get serious about defending themselves rather than letting Uncle Sucker pay most of the tab.
Unfortunately, this march towards World War IV is out of our hands. Biden and the WEF will do what they want and US interests, EU interests and Ukraine’s interests are not important.
If they want a massive war so they can reorganize the West into a single socialist state, then this is the time for them to make it happen.

A European Union Army would be one more thing for the U.S. taxpayer to pay for, just like NATO.
