The hypocrisy of Coca-Cola
Washington Examiner ^ | 1 Mar 2022 | Salena Zito

Posted on 03/02/2022 12:40:09 PM PST by Rummyfan

In March of last year, days after Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed new voting reform legislation, Atlanta-based Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey said, “This legislation is unacceptable. It is a step backwards … and needs to be remedied, and we will continue to advocate for it both in private and now even more in public.”

The massive soft drink company wasn’t alone — it brought a wave of corporate backlash aimed at Kemp, Georgia Republicans, and Republicans in general. Within days, Major League Baseball had pulled the All Star Game out of the state. Delta Airlines, Home Depot, Porsche Cars, and the Atlanta Falcons — all Georgia-based companies — also slammed the law based on false Democratic Party talking points about what it said and did.

And, of course, Coca-Cola also tweeted its displeasure with the law.

One year later, Coca-Cola is eerily silent on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia is one of the company’s most profitable markets, as the soda giant operates out of the country as Swiss-based bottler Coca-Cola HBC. It announced last Tuesday they had contingency plans to cope with the crisis, which included stockpiling ingredients to limit any disruption in their massive Russian market.

Coca-Cola HBC gets approximately 21% of its volume from Russia and Ukraine, where it also has operations. The workers in Ukraine were sent home last week. . . .

They have also not issued any statement condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine at the time of this publication, nor have they tweeted anything that even remarkably resembles criticism of Russia’s actions going all the way back to before Russia crossed into Ukraine several days ago.

Their website has nothing, either. The statement at the top of the page is on climate change.

However, there are plenty of syrupy tweets about their new limited-release soda Starlight on both of their Twitter accounts.

In short, Coca-Cola has no problem taking a whack at the Republican governor for enacting a law they clearly had not read. Still, they cannot take a stand against Russia, whose leader is massacring people in Ukraine.

Left unsaid by the Ministry of Propaganda is that the GA law is less restrictive than Delaware’s laws.

Used to drink the Coke Zero Cherry Cola. Gave up on all their products when they told me I was too white.

Coca Cola had an ugly history with regard to the Hitler regime in Germany.

Guess what companies win when DC controls who wins? This is why so many companies march in lock step with the Swamp. The solution is to take away the power DC has and only a Convention of States has any chance of getting that done.

Exactly why I stopped drinking Coke over a year ago. True, I'm a drop in the bucket, but get enough drops...

Coke is “woke” here in the U.S. where it’s painless for them to be so.

They shut up as soon as they perceive that it’s bad for business. In any country or culture, they side with whomever has the upper hand.

Sadly, Coke’s hypocrisy is indicative of the extent to which the woke left has the upper hand in our culture.

It’s gotta be pretty dark up there, what with Uncle Ben, the Land ‘O Lakes Indian, Aunt Jemima, the Washington Redskins, et al. I only saw it once, but Disney has an ad with a black Snow White! Come on, people, get over it. If you don’t like Snow White or other children’s stories, then write your own story and release it next February as part of Black History Month. I didn’t see any public announcements on TV for White History Month, but I think they made contributions, too. Why the silence?

“they cannot take a stand against Russia, whose leader is massacring people in Ukraine.”

Sugar is poison. Sugar kills.

Coca Cola sells poison in a can, stuff that contributes to the deatsh of untold numbers of people every year.

Why would they care about what a bunch of Ruskies are doing to each other?

You aren’t the only drop in that bucket, I told my wife over a year ago “NO MORE COKE IN THIS HOUSE”!

All of us little drops will eventually wind up being an overflowing bucket.

It no longer goes into my Jack and cola. Actually I will not drink soda any more because most generic brands are co-packed by Coke or Pepsi.

CocaCola free for 20 years now. Had to find other ways to use Myers Original Dark Rum (and Newfoundland Screech).

There’s no hypocrisy.

Both are leftist stances. Coca Cola is being consistent.

I haven’t bought a Coca Cola product since.

I really love my SodaStream machine, and I figure I am at breakeven now on the purchase.
