Decking innocent women is equally despicable whether its “hate crime” or not or whether the victims are Asian or not. While I wonder what his motives might have been, I can’t see how his motives should matter in determining the legal consequences..the women were still hurt and he is obviously the one to be held accountable.

First 4 words. Right in your face.
Not teen. Not youth. Not person.
This is why I just automatically assume the perp is black when the story does not lead with “a black curly haired man...” The sad thing is, the perp may not be a black man, but if it doesn’t start off with something like “a blonde haired man”, then I know it probably has to be.
