War with Russia Could be Catastrophic
American Thinker.com ^ | Marc 2, 2022 | J. Robert Smith

Last week, Dick Morris took to the airwaves at Newsmax to swipe at Tucker Carlson. In going after Carlson, he made points that should disturb sensible Americans. Those points are revealing. They’re worth addressing because Morris’ perspective reflects those who want war with Russia over the Ukraine and then because they’re convinced Vladimir Putin is Hitler’s incarnation.

Like Morris, the “war with Russia” crowd never openly states their desire. They make intimations. Perhaps they think that’s clever. It’s really disingenuous. In a matter so momentous as war, one should declare plainly one’s position.

Morris and others like him have the luxury of being armchair generals. Given their war fever, one wonders if they grasp that a U.S./NATO-Russia war could produce death and devastation on a scale not seen since World War II. Frankly, it could be worse. Remember, the war with Nazi Germany was absent strategic and tactical nuclear weapons.

Over the weekend, Putin just “raised the alert status for his nuclear forces to ‘special regime of combat duty.’” Putin is playing brinkmanship. He’s raising the stakes, in part, to discourage other nations from entering the war.

Morris claims these points are the “truth” in a Newsmax article, February 24:

We’re not even vaguely ready for war with Russia at this time, and especially not under this administration of idiots.

That's like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

In the current circumstances it would be folly to risk war with Russia. I’m considering mainly, but not completely, our current leadership and the leadership of our partners... all of which is extremely unfortunate.

The current storm of propaganda is going to push us to war if we are not careful...

It takes cool heads to navigate through times like this and we seem to have few cool heads these days...

Absolutely all of the devils that comprise what is referred to as the deep state are banging the drum for war with Russia... sadly, many that I would never have guessed are banging in rhythm with them.

There has NEVER been a better time to pray.

Under the current leadership, I do not think the US military is ready for war with the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.

Communicate directly with every oligarch and general. Tell them that regardless of the outcome Russia’s aggression, whether the Ukrainians repel them or not, Russia will be a pariah state on par with North Korea for the next 50 years. Unless they cease immediately, the civilized world will impose REAL sanctions. As in barbed wire fence and mine fields to keep them isolated from the rest of the world. No shopping in Paris, no private tennis lessons for their kids in Florida. No oil sales, no food, no travel, nothing. One of them will grow enough balls to feed Putin a cup of polonium tea.

Thank you neocons for giving us Putin back in the late 80 early 90s when you kicked a weak Russia to the curb. A Russia that needed help and was asking the west for help and the neocon gave her the back of their hand. Thanks a lot neocons.

There should be a bounty on neocons heads.

“War with Russia Could be Catastrophic”

Really? After nearly 80 years of avoiding direct conflict with Russia for obvious reasons, some now seem to think it’s acceptable? IQ’s have definitely dropped.

..............................................
Not at this time nor at any other time, unless we’re fully committed to the complete annihilation of all major U.S. cities and half the population—INSTANTLY! The terrifying scenario now is that we have two countries armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons while BOTH countries are being governed by IMBECILES!

Morris and others like him have the luxury of being armchair generals.

So does most of America.

War, for most living Americans, is something they've never had to experience. A miniscule percentage of the population, mostly volunteers for the past 50 years, has gone off to some faraway country to do the fighting while the rest of America stayed comfortable at home, fat and happy.

This one might be different. There's a very real potential that Americans might not escape unscathed. There's a very real potential that we could see cities obliterated.

I don't think a lot of people are really thinking about this.

I am. That's why I kinda get pissed when some Twitter bleucheque starts harping about "Why can't we enforce no-fly zones?" We're used to treating our enemies as someone who couldn't possibly touch us. We're treating Putin on the same level as Saddam, Gaddafi or Bashar al-Assad, some 3rd rate ruler with a 3rd rate military who we can wage war against while the rest of the country watches football and goes shopping. This is a mistake.

I’m very worried about where we might be heading here.
