Nice. Sounds like a great deal. I did notice that the RE taxes are greater in or near certain cities. I’d like to find a place with enough acreage to set up a shooting range out back. Me and the boys gotta get trained up.

Property taxes in Texas are massive, but they fund the local jurisdictions, not the State. School districts on average suck 50% of the total property tax bill, and hospital districts, county government, cities, junior colleges, and water districts suck the rest.

Cities and other localities also get a portion of sales taxes, which vary.

Government at every level is far too large, too expensive, too wasteful, too corrupt, etc. It’s past time to put government, all government, on a severe diet. The obesity epidemic is not just a people problem, bloated government has the same problem and causes much bigger problems for everyone.

Why not just go Texas and get rid of a state income tax?

My view is that when TSHTF, and it becomes a lot of hard work to stay warm in the winter, the Entitlement Army is gonna head south.

So a place like Iowa will be pretty good on a relative basis, IMHO.

There’s an effort in Texas to Eliminate Property Tax and go to a consumption tax.

They would so it by broadening the tax base, increasing the sales tax slightly, consolidating a bunch of taxes including the existing property tax, eliminating all those, and then moving that whole shebang to the consumption tax.

No more farmers, ranchers, elders, or inheritors losing their property because they couldn’t pay the property tax.

And in some areas now, the K-12 schools take 60% of the total bill.

I just got back from Dallas and what struck me were the sales tax on everything. 8.25% is pretty steep when you factor in the increased prices for everything in Bidens America.

No income tax states like Texas have to get revenue to pay their expenses. The beast must be fed. Generally with high property and sales taxes. The general lack of liberal attitudes makes it worth it.

...for corporations at an estimated overall cost of about $2 billion in lower annual total state income when fully implemented.

Has she unveiled the lower budget that meets the new income stream?

Since their high schools have athletic facilities that put many small colleges to shame, I'm not surprised.

She means they get $12.00 more per week, but don’t let that
stop them from making it sound as terrible as possible.

As for states not deficit spending, I’m not sure about
California. They sold some bonds to pay off budget deficits
years ago. Those bonds are still on the books I would imagine.

I suspect they’ve found other ways to spend more than they
take in.

That being said, they have a $36.0 billion dollar surplus
in their account these days. Luckily they are planning
on huge rebates to the taxpayers. (you know I’m kidding
right)

What they actually have planned, is to double taxes in the
state to pay for a massive bundle of feel good handouts for
almost everyone except those working.

The last I hear they were going to introduce legislation
to do that, but they may have had it explained to them that
there was no way in hell that was going to be tolerated.

I think, even in California, that would have been one
earthquake fault too far.

As an Iowa resident, this is a good move but personally, I wish she would reduce the gas tax. For years, Iowa had the lowest prices and people would cross the bridge from Nebraska to purchase gas. There used to be a $0.10 difference per gallon.

Actually, it’s likely that many of the ultra-wealthy will get less of a tax break than the “regular folks” that are alleged to get only $12 per week. If all of your income is in the form of investment returns, you’re not going to get an income tax break because you’re not paying income tax in the first place.

Texas raises money from sales tax, property tax, business tax and mineral taxes.

“Kim Reynolds’ agenda rewards her corporate donors, not hardworking Iowans. Under this reckless plan, she’s handing millionaires an extra $1,200 a week, while teachers and truck drivers get less than $12 a week,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Ross Wilburn in a statement.

Why is Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Ross Wilburn invoking class envy in his comment on the new tax law?

Oh, that is what Democrats do best.

CA Property tax on $145K assessed value would be 1% — $1450 plus whatever local assessments are; call it 0.2% == $1740.

Not lots different from $2000, but that $260 would help since the two installments are due in November and April. It’s always sucked having to fork out that bill a month before Christmas.

A gross receipts tax taxes sales tax. Gross receipts include the sales tax collected (or it wouldn't be gross receipts).

Sales are taxed twice.
