A Ukrainian man was arrested for partially sinking his Russian tycoon boss’ $7.7 million luxury super yacht in Spain in protest over the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Taras Ostapchuk, 55, was taken into custody on Saturday in Mallorca after he allegedly opened several valves to intentionally flood the 156-foot-long vessel, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported.
The yacht — named Lady Anastasia — is owned by businessman, Alexander Mijeev, who is the CEO of Russian military weapons company, Rosoboronexport.
When officers arrived to arrest Ostapchuk, the crew member allegedly said: “My boss is a criminal who sells weapons that kill the Ukrainian people.”
Ostapchuk said he was spurred to sabotage the luxury yacht after seeing news reports of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to the local outlet.

Good points.
If it’s really a “super yacht,” the quoted price is missing a zero, or thereabouts.
Now we know why Putin got his yacht out of port two weeks ago.
And, yet, if you go to that NY Post site and run the video, theres no photos, videos or other evidence that he sank the yacht. In fact, all it says is that he tried to sink it, or damaged a machine room.
I preferred the story of Miss Ukranian Universe giving up her high-heels for combat boots, because, well, at least there they showed a before picture to go with the one of her all dressed up for combat.
There are several much larger yachts owned by Russian businessmen...
A couple of them could almost use this yacht as a lifeboat...
Personally, the one with its own submarine (for quick escapes) is my favorite...
I’d rather have a 42’ Yellowfin with 3x 300s.
( and Vicky Stark for 1st Mate).
Pretty soon the Putin apologists will come by here. They will insist:
“The whole thing is just Ukrainian propaganda! The boat never sank. It is in fact a luxury submarine that is meant to be 10 feet underwater!”
And where are the Vindman brothers? Why aren’t they returning to their country to fight for it, especially since both have been trained by the US Army. Guess they don’t have as much character and partiotism as this mechanic does.
Good question
I would have lit it afire and set it adrift.
I saw a thread on Twitter where someone was posting the whereabouts of various oligarchs have their yachts parked. For no particular reason.
Just a coincidence...............
Quad Merc 450Rs would be sweet though and balance well. Hell. just pimp out the Yellowfin with a quad Ilnor setup. Or, go full custom with an Intrepid + Ilnors across the stern. That would really show them who's their Daddy.
Lol…
The motors don’t mean as much as having Vicky Stark for 1st mate. THAT is 1st class!
No insurance company will pay for the damages. Pretty sure every policy excludes damages from acts of war. This was an act of war.
It’s an act of war. Insurance claim will be denied.
Okay, so I had to look 👀 up Vicky Stark. Damn! Top shelf.
Nonsense. Acts of war are committed by person in uniform and under orders.
Not true. The guy admitted he sabotaged the boat because he was fighting for Ukraine. Whether he was in uniform or not makes no difference.
Do you think for a second an insurance company is just going to roll over and say, “Yeah, that’s covered.”?
They would fight like he’ll to deny coverage.
Not a chance. You do not understand insurance. I do. The carrier has sold its risk into the reinsurance market. Probably owned by 10 EU banks with billions of risk and hundreds of millions of annual premiums. No one cares about the loss. It will reduce the profit from the portfolio by a microscopic amount. A rounding error.
