A fearless Ukrainian man removed a land mine from a bridge with his bare hands while casually puffing on a cigarette, startling video shows.

The viral footage viewed millions of times since surfacing online Sunday shows the unidentified daredevil springing into action in the southern port city of Berdyansk instead of waiting for Ukrainian bomb disposal units.

One 38-second clip shows the courageous man, clad in jeans and a black coat with a cigarette precariously hanging from his lip, gripping the landmine with two hands after apparently finding it in a roadway.

He then walks the device – which did not detonate in the video — into a nearby forest as an onlooker records his stunning bravery.

The man’s fearlessness in the face of Russia’s invasion quickly took off on social media, with some praising him as an absolute “badass.”

Mines are designed to be handled by soldiers. The ones I was acquainted with way back in the day are pretty simple things.

Well I believe by the size of the mine, it’s an anti-tank mine not an anti-personnel mine, so it was likely safer to move than it looked, since those take about a ton of pressure to set off.

Over there they don’t slap a baby’s bottom when born. They give him a cigarette and let him cough himself to life.

I have pictures of my Grandfather pumping gas at his station circa late 40’s early 50’s with a non filter camel in his mouth. He was not killed by any explosions, but the smoking definitely contributed to his eventual death in his 80’s.

Amazing - that Samayil Hyde isn’t just limited to aerial feats of daring-do and bravery! I hope he quits smoking though, it’s not good for his health!

Cigarettes will not detonate the mine, even if you press it to the top.

What an idiot to take such a reckless chance. Not wearing a mask could have killed him.
Its one thing to disable a bomb in blue jeans, that’s somewhat reckless. But not wearing a mask white doing it is just too much. Hope he’s arrested for the lack of a mask.

I saw this on another forum. Someone there said those style anti-tank mines require 200 lb of pressure to set them off.

I weigh 205 lbs. I have new-found motivation to loose a few pounds... Just in case.

Seriously (besides needing to lose a few pandemic pounds) two years ago who would've predicted we'd be where we are today? So who can say where we'll be in a couple more years? I actually started weight lifting again last month. If I'm going to run a little heavy, might as well be strong too.

The the old men of Ukraine all were all trained by red army soilders when training was for a real WWIII. The folks in ukraine and poland were disposable assets and ended up in the units that laid mines and handed ordinate movements.

There will be a ton of 55+ something’s very casually teaching the 50 and under crowd how to deal with soviet spec gear.

You would think russia would be using more modern gear, no they exported a ton of stuff to the likely places for dollars. Russia direct conflicts are still fought with the hardware produced in response to Reagan. The vehicles are new, but the things of conflict are 1982 spec.
