US to send anti-aircraft Stingers to Ukraine
Stars & Stripes ^ | February 27, 2022 | Associated Press

The U.S. for the first time has approved the direct delivery of Stinger missiles to Ukraine as part of a package approved by the White House on Friday.

The exact timing of delivery is not known, but officials say the U.S. is currently working on the logistics of the shipment. The officials agreed to discuss the development only if not quoted by name.

The decision comes on the heels of Germany's announcement that it will send 500 Stinger missiles and other weapons and supplies to Ukraine.

The high-speed Stingers are very accurate and are used to shoot down helicopters and other aircraft. Ukrainian officials have been asking for more of the powerful weapons.

Estonia has also been providing Ukraine with Stingers since January, and in order to do that had to get U.S. permission.

I’m not going to believe this press release from Biden until he also releases the date of delivery and the court or border ground locations. Then I’ll know it’s really him that ordered it.

The o ly purpose of this announcement is so closer to elections they can say they helped Ukraine. The fact that Ukraine never received them won’t matter in the media.

They need to surround Kiev and fire away. Peel off the outer ring.

If they really wanted to send a signal, they would sink Putin’s yacht. These missiles will hurt a lot of people, not Putin.

And Brandon probably doesn’t even know about what the Brandon Junta did here.

I’m not clear on the military end game for Putin. Does he just keep marching across the eastern bloc until everyone’s his vassal? Bringing back the old gang

Once all these thousands of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles reach Ukraine, the Russian army is marching nowhere.

Anyone know how the USA can get them there at this late date — without getting into combat? If Biden had been doing anything more than virtue signaling, they would already be there.

Will some (or many) of these end up in the hands of UNfriendlies?

That's entirely possible - one of the Stingers that Hillary sorted out in Benghazi ended up taking down one of our helicopters in Afghanistan. Maybe she still has a few left from that batch.

Putin is not clear either. Ran out of brain cells and should be sent to the Funny Farm.

[Now Biden decides to send weapons? After the Ukraine capital city is surrounded by Russians.

Those Stingers will be intercepted by Putie Poots goons. As usual, Biden is a brain short and months late.]

Lviv/Lemberg isn’t. Worst come to worst, they can move the seat of government temporarily out to Lviv, much as West Germany’s Bundestag was camped out in Bonn, as far from the front line as it was possible to get without ending up in Belgium. I think they were getting a sense of whether Ukrainians would fight. No point handing weaponry over to a government that was just going to give them to Putin. Now that we’ve established they will resist, it’s time to give them everything they want, up to and including leftover Migs and Sukhois and perhaps even Patriot batteries. We can replenish the inventories of NATO allies with F-16’s and F-15’s.

Ted: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We’re bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We’re coming in from the north, below their radar.
Elaine: When will you be back?
Ted: I can’t tell you that. It’s classified.

Oh, come on. You think the Russians would not know anyway?

I do agree this is very late in the game. Those Stingers should have been close to Ukraine’s’ border before the big wave of Russian troops went in. After all, we are told our intel knew about this invasion well in advance, no? (And the intel was correct.)
