Things are heating up across the globe. It isn't just Ukraine. Taiwan is squarely in the Chinese Communist Party's crosshairs. Iran is turning more militant. North Korea is testing weapons again. Wars and rumors of wars are abundant.
Then, there's Pandemic Panic Theater. Just when we thought they'd done their worst with Omicron and it fizzled on them, reports of new variants as well as "more dangerous" versions of Omicron are making the news. And just as many lockdowns are ending, more seem to be in the planning stage for whatever the powers-that-be have waiting around the corner, most likely near election time in the United States.
...
I didn't freak out when Y2K was supposed to take down the world's technology. I didn't panic over the 2008-09 housing market collapse because I figured the economy still had the resilience to bounce back eventually, and I was correct. Obamacare got me a little worried in 2010-11, so we began our first mini-foray into "prepping" by getting a couple of bugout bags and a few buckets of freeze dried food. But it was just a phase and eventually my fears subsided.
The Trump era brought hope for continued prosperity until Covid-19 came around. When the toilet-paper-apocalypse sprung into inexplicable effect in 2020, I was among those who called for calm and lambasted those who bought a year's supply of Charmin, not because prudence is unappreciated but because they were manufacturing scarcity for the rest of us. Throughout it all, I never thought the economic collapse was around the corner.
Today, I do.

Another guy trying to sell you his gold? (Which he somehow doesn’t want despite the coming apocalypse)
Watch out for a cyberwar blamed on Russia initiating in Eastern Europe, and spreading. Worst case US Hawks use it as a pretext to enter conflict on behalf of NATO, some Senators already talking about it now.
well, OK. The writer is sensible. I appreciate his reasoning. My stock of beans, canned ham, rice, and peanut butter will be doubled. I hate ham. And we are on a vegetarian diet. Not that THAT will mean anything when we have to forage for food.
I dunno. Being in the suburbs of Atlanta, if I can get into the mountains I would bug out. Like to where Eric Rudolph hid out.
...or toilet paper.
Watching the crisis in the Ukraine, and it led me to realize the most important thing to get that no preppers think about: a foreign password.
If you expect the SHTF it won’t affect everywhere. Having an out to Ukraine or New Zealand can be worth your life.
BS.
holy geez, waiting on my passport renewal as we write... Bahamas?
This is silly. I am more worried about the USG following in the footsteps of Canada, NZ, Australia and other supposedly first world democracies that have deprived their citizens of liberty under the guise of a false ongoing emergency. From what I’ve seen we are only a couple of steps away here in the US.
The smart money would be buying a second home and seeking easy residency in a country that respects the rule of law and that did not go nuts during the pandemic. Unfortunately a pretty short list.
I’m all prepared out.
I listened to J.D. Rucker for about 22 minutes of a 57 minute piece and finally shut it off. He didn’t say anything that wasn’t true, he just didn’t say anything I didn’t already know. He was kinda rambling on.
Then, there's Pandemic Panic Theater.
And don't forget "climate change". John Kerry says that's worse than what's happening in Ukraine.
you mean a foreign passPORT?
Yeah, I am SO tired of these things which start out sounding like a serious forecast issued by a dispassionate “expert”, and they ALL turn out to be pitches for buying gold. The deception is what makes all of this highly suspect, and puts gold, whatever its actual value as a hedge might be-—in a very bad light. Not so bad as the light flickering on the people who are trying to sell it to you, but bad. And a number of radio guys I like , Jesse Kelly for example , have been enlisted to do the same thing.....on the air.
Right.....
You’ll be there ‘in the mountains’ with 5 million other people with the same idea....and then what?
Better rethink this.

Yes I did, autocorrect strikes again.
