Two prosecutors working on Manhattan DA’s Trump Organization probe resign

Two top prosecutors working on the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation into the Trump Organization resigned Wednesday, leaving the years-old probe without two key players as it appeared to have entered a crucial phase.

Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz submitted their resignations to the DA’s office, Danielle Filson, a spokeswoman for the office, told CNN in a statement, adding that “we are grateful for their service.”

“The investigation is ongoing,” Filson said. “We can’t comment further.”

The New York Times first reported the prosecutors’ resignations. CNN has reached out to Pomerantz and Dunne for comment.

The resignations come as the new Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, has “indicated to them that he had doubts about moving forward with a case against” former President Donald Trump, the Times said, citing conversations with people with knowledge of the matter.

The Times said that the “precise reasons for Mr. Bragg’s pullback are unknown,” noting that “he has made few public statements about the status of the inquiry since taking office.”

CNN reported in December that the investigation appears to be coming to a head, with prosecutors focusing on the accuracy of the Trump Organization’s financial statements when seeking financing, according to people familiar with the matter.

There is a poll on that site page that asks for your opinion on whether or both the investigation into Trumps will continue. Out of just over 1000 responses about 65% think the investigation will probably not continue after these resignations.

This is not a problem. Prosecuting attorneys resign all the time. It’s just a sign that the case is going really well.

For President Trump, that is.

Watch an MSNBC commentator try to spin this as “someone in the Trump circle paid them off to resign”

That will get more play than the story itself

Falling apart? It was probably never together.

If Trump had not been President this ‘investigation’ probably, indeed, almost certainly, would have never taken place.

The fact is, they don’t want anything to go to trial, just throw out accusation after accusation knowing at least a good number of sheeple will accept it as the truth. They can’t risk it going to trial and having the truth come out.

I think the same will happen with the J6 Commission, they’ll just end it conveniently before they call any witnesses who will easily refute their charges. But of course, the media will continue repeating the lies.

I wonder if this “investigation” would have ever occurred had it not become imperative to punish Trump for winning and further send a warning to any other non swamp creature to never dare run

Going after the President was probably a stupid idea anyway.

There is a thing called prosecutorial misconduct! Even though these attorneys would get a heroes welcome in NYC for framing up Trump, their careers would be over if they proceeded and they know it!

Letitia James is a woke, career, activist, low IQ affirmative-action politician

Just like every cynical NY Attorney General before her (think Schneiderman, Cuomo, Spitzer) she’s using her office to pursue purely political prosecutions, to get headlines that will help her climb the greasy pole of leftist, one-party-state New York.

Only in this case, she doesn’t even have a criminal case - she’s trying to prove somehow that Trump mis-valued his real-estate properties. Which means he probably paid too much tax....

Everyone wants to sign up, step forward.....

The “case” to begin with is utterly ludicrous. “Trump cheated on his taxes” Really? And the IRS just chose to ignore it even though billionaires like him get constantly audited? And then “Trump overestimated the value of his penthouse to get loans” So banks just hand out loans so easily without confirmation? YEAH OK. This BITCH Letitia James is the only CROOK here, this is a woman who campaigned on “getting Trump” she needs to RESIGN.

True - just so the media can constantly report that there is an INVESTIGATION going on.

I suspect one or both of the following happened:

1. The prosecutors knew damn well that they didn't have a case.

2. They thought they COULD have a case, but that NY Attorney General wombat irreparably tainted the case when she campaigned for office on a "get Trump" platform.

Falling apart?

Don't want their name on an obvious sham "Trumped Up" prosecution? Or didn't want to lose...
