Note to Reporters: Americans Are Better Off Even After Inflation
Washington Monthly ^ | February 23, 2022 | Robert Shapiro

According to conventional wisdom, inflation has left most Americans poorer. It’s an odd view, given that the number of people with jobs jumped by 4.7 percent in 2021, and the economy grew by 5.7 percent after inflation. It was the U.S. economy’s best performance in decades. If people are poorer, why did household spending jump by 8.8 percent in 2021, after inflation, including increases of 25.8 percent for clothing and shoes and 11.6 percent for home furnishings?

Excuse me but with gasoline heading for $4+ per gallon, the devaluation of the dollar driven by Biden’s trillion dollar give aways and inflation now heading into double digits only an idiot would think we are better off.

Robert Shapiro? Does/did he have some connection to NPR?
These people know how to lie with a straight face, and talk out of both sides of their mouth(s) at the same time.
They are consistently inconsistent.

Robert J. Shapiro of Sonecon and overstock.com is not a sycophant. People like Biden are HIS sycophants.

Spending goes up when things cost more. It doesn’t mean you’re getting more for the money.

Free "COVID" cash for many, while for many others, the sense that it is all going to be taken or inflated away to nothing, has prompted people to spend the money while it's still worth something.

Writer needs to look at consumer credit growth and credit card spending......won’t end well.

There are typically two filters, one is a “sock” type fabric filter at the pump inlet. That one just keeps big stuff out of the pump. Then a cartridge filter between the pump and the injectors or carb. So if those are in place, the engine should stay clean. Unlike the engine oil filter, there’s no bypass valve on the fuel filter. When it plugs up the engine should starve of fuel.

Because actual inflation is much, much more than the B(L)S number.

Another idiot who should not be allowed anywhere near a word processor.

Inflation is the devaluing of currency. The money that you hold loses value all the time. Therefore you are poorer.

This article is to provide support for the Decrepit Old Fool.

Bidenomics. Skyrocketing energy prices are not a bug, they are a feature.

The on!y way to get the sheeple to switch to mass transit, electric cars, and a power grid that shuts down whenever the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing is to make oil and gas too expensive to use. This has always been the far left’s plan. They haven’t even been secret about it.

Because inflation makes things more expensive? Also, if you see things are jumping in price it is a smart idea to pull expenses forward so you are buying today at a lower price than you would at a later date. This is not a sign of economic health, it is a rational reaction to price signals that mean very bad things.
