The White House said President Biden would soon issue an executive order that would ban new investment, trade and financing by US people and entities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

“This EO [executive order] will also provide authority to impose sanctions on any person determined to operate in those areas of Ukraine,” said Jen Psaki, White House press secretary. “We will also soon announce additional measures related to today’s blatant violation of Russia’s international commitments.”

Psaki said the measures were separate from the economic sanctions the US has threatened to impose if Putin invades Ukraine. “We are continuing to closely consult with Allies and partners, including Ukraine, on next steps and on Russia’s ongoing escalation along the border with Ukraine.”

Next time OUR candidate should not sound like he is not serious about covid by saying “this virus is just another flu and will die away when warm summer weather arrives”. The liberal candidate hid in basement, with a burqa on face, which voters construed as taking covid seriously. 250 MILLION Americans chose to jab themselves with some experimental vaccine. If that is not proof of fear Americans have (justified or unjustified matters not in politics) of covid, then I can’t think of a better proof.

In politics perception trumps reality and truth.

“ NOT just the corrupt ‘elites’ living in DC.”

Today, the government elites ARE America…not you and me and the millions of peasants living here.

They have control of the money, of the media, of the culture, of our borders. They pay the police and the military who will use their power and weapons to beat us and subjugate us (in order to retain their paychecks and pensions). Just look north to Canada and see how the elites work.

We are going to have to start over…from the studs as it were.

Sounds like a possible interpretation, have to run it by my local warfare expert, also a friend with family in Kiev.

If he successfully gets his way, how soon before he starts nibbling on the various Stans—Uzbekastan, Tajikastan, etc.? And if he does how successful would that be against these Muslim states, some of which have oil?

Now that the Vaccine enthusiasm is waning since it appears to not prevent people from getting Covids, Big Pharma is loosing stock market lustre. Now is the time to crank up war fears and loose the power of the Military Industrial Complex on Wall Street. I wonder how much more military hardware countries surrounding the current Russia will start buying if they were part of the old USSR and fear being nibbled to death like Ukraine?

Since when does a US President have economic say on another sovereign nation in who they do business with.

I would rather have Russia controlling the “Stans” than to see them go “rogue”.

“Most of the people in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions would rather be a part of Russia than be a part of Ukraine”.......

Which is why the Nazi element in Ukraine continuously creates conflict as they want all Russians out of Ukraine.....however even if these two regions are annexed by Russia as a back door deal.....this will certainly mean Keiv will push stronger for Nato membership once there’s no conflicts......

The major reason Ukraine hasn’t been taken as a Nato Member are the waring conflicts on it’s borders. No country can qualify for Nato with conflicts. So Russia annexing these two areas of conflict could mean then Ukraine would be open then for Nato Membership.......once a cease fire is established over a period of time.

“Warning”.....In that post Biden is mentioning...”International Law”.....of which the US doesn’t honor unless I missed that along the line somewhere, ......or unless Biden’s now going to put us under International Law.????

This is nothing. No one is doing business in those areas anyway. This is all kubuki theater. Biden told Putin he could take it. Just like Obama told Putin he could take crimea. They would act shocked and mad but nothing of significance will be done about it.

Biden really wants Putin to replace the president of Ukraine since he’s making it difficult on Hunter.

I think America is tired of war though. This may not work out like the Democrats hope.

The US does recognize international law. Just some parts of it we didn’t agree to.

Looks like a big blow to the war crowd that dreams of getting rid of Putin, once and for all. After all, Putin is the last major leader that does not go along with the woke people's agenda. And of course, a lot of people just can't get their heads out of the cold war a##. I guess we know who they are by the company they keep.

The media seems to be ignoring Kamala saying “It requires sometimes for us to put ourselves out there in a way that we maybe will incur some cost, and in this situation, that, um, might be energy costs.” Passing over “put ourselves out” (as with Willie Brown), these sanctions are not only going to hurt Russia.
