BEIJING (AP) — The gold medalist said she felt empty. The silver medalist pledged never to skate again. The favorite left in tears without saying a word.
After one of the most dramatic nights in their sport's history, Russia's trio of teenage figure skating stars each enter an uncertain future.
Her Olympics and life turned upside down by a doping case, world record holder Kamila Valieva faces a possible ban and a coach whose first response to her disastrous skate Thursday was criticism.
"Why did you let it go? Why did you stop fighting?" cameras caught Eteri Tutberidze — the notoriously strict coach who will be investigated over Valieva's failed drug test — telling the 15-year-old after she fell twice and dropped out of medal contention.

I have not been following The Olympics. But bullying a fifteen-year old girl doesn’t seem to be a good thing.
She should never have been allowed to skate. The adults who guided her failed her big time. They should be disciplined as well. Shameless.
There is no sportsmanship at the Olympics.
The entirety is rotten.
I haven’t purposely watched a second of it in 20 years.
This is child abuse... Maybe after Putin invades the Ukraine, he can do us all a favor and and take some time out to put her coaches in a gulag.
Teenaged girls and drama? Who would see THAT coming?
The quest for the quad ruined skating
And sets up a perfect opportunity for a bunch of Lia Thomases to emerge as the new darlings of the ice, further destroying lots more 15 yr old girls in the process
It’s time to kiss the Olympics goodbye.
Mostly it’s a contest of who robbed a child’s of his or her childhood and pushed them the farthest toward ruin in the quickest amount of time.
Only amateur adults should be competing in any of it. Ca
So do all normal people.
This was the topic at the hair salon yesterday when I was getting my hair cut. The consensus was that justice was served when Kamila Valieva did lousy, but that it’s the adults’ fault, not the child’s.
It’s funny how people say “15-year-old girl” in the same tone as “escaped monkey from a cocaine study.”
You want to see amateur athletics? Find a sandlot with kids playing right-field-out baseball because they can't get enough players, or a soccer game, or some school outside basketball court. And no adults around.
Once the kids are in uniforms, the amateur part is over. Little League and Traveling Soccer is where Karens learn how to be Karens.
I particularly loathe the fact that the apparent superstar of this Olympics happens to be none other than the perfect tool, “See Imperialist Lackey - America is a Failed State” Eileen Gu, Chicom propaganda star. She basks in the freedoms of the US her entire life only to stab it in the back and deliver a great PR victory to Xi. Truly disgusting, if we had balls we would bar her return to the US.
How?
We have no ability to control her.
She’s going to Stanford in the Fall, having graduated from an expensive private high school.
I can see how she resents the US…
She just hates her white Dad, won’t even talk about him.
He’s the only reason she’s good looking.
Genocide Barbie will get hers soon enough.
Truth
I read where the CHICOM athletes are selected at a young age, removed from their families to a sports training center, where they are like slaves with grueling forced training.

I have never agreed agreed in principle to the allowance of dual citizenship.
It muddies the waters of sovereignty.
In America, the top ranked college women's swimmer is a man and the second ranked is a woman taking testosterone to turn herself into a man.
And I’m supposed to be outraged over a 15-year old Russian skater who *might* have taken her grandfather’s heart medication months ago but nobody is really certain.
oh ffs.
the quote in the article was definitely not bullying.
anyone who has been in competitive sports knows this.
the will and determination of top level athletes who push and strive giving it everything they have for years is something ‘normies’ will never understand.
without that level of focus and grit, things like this would never be seen:

anyone that hasn’t done it and has the gall to criticize their methods needs to sit down and just stfu
