A California bill aims to require all businesses in the state to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for their employees.
Democratic Assms. Buffy Wicks of Oakland, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry of Winters, Evan Low of Cupertino and Akila Weber of San Diego introduced Assembly Bill 1993 last week.
Advertisement The bill would require all businesses in California to have their employees show proof that they either have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a religious or medical reason not to get the shot.
"I come from a really small town where we took care of our neighbors, and this is one of those things where I feel like we’re taking care of our neighbors," Aguiar-Curry said.
The bill makes no mention of testing requirements for employees with religious and medical exemptions.
Businesses that do not follow the rules could be fined, although the bill does not specify how much the penalty would be.
Many employees, like state workers, health care workers and police officers, already have COVID-19 vaccine or testing requirements. However, this bill would go beyond that, applying a vaccine mandate for all public and even private employers.
The California Chamber of Commerce said it is still reviewing the bill. The California Restaurant Association did not have a comment as of yet.
Small Business Majority, an advocacy organization, supports the bill.
“Coronavirus variants continue to disrupt business operations and create financial uncertainty for small businesses in California and throughout the country," said Small Business Majority Founder and CEO John Arensmeyer. "Small business owners don’t want to be traffic cops in debates about public safety; they are looking for a common statewide standard that disentangles them from politics and enables them to operate their businesses safely and predictably. We must enact bold policies that will give California small businesses the certainty they need to operate at capacity and help them get back to normal.”
Other local business owners are against the bill, however. For example, Matthew Oliver, owner of the House of Oliver in Roseville, believes the bill will actually make it harder for business owners like him.
"We have a lot of staff members who have gotten the vaccine, and we have a lot of staff members who, for all sorts of reasons, don't want to get the vaccine. We're a state where we really fought to have people have individual identity and the freedom to choose," Oliver said.
The bill states that it would repeal provisions when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determines COVID-19 vaccinations are no longer necessary for the health and safety of the public.
“...I feel like...”
Ahhh, the mental disorder that is liberalism all in a tiny nutshell.
IT’S ALL ABOUT them, and how they FEEL.
The tyrants want even more blood.
So much for “loosening restrictions”; this was always about forcing people to become vax customers whether they wanted it or not (just like ObamaCare).
“I come from a really small town where we took care of our neighbors, and this is one of those things where I feel like we’re taking care of our neighbors,” Aguiar-Curry said.
The mafia “takes care” of people to you little fascist.
“and this is one of those things where I feel like we’re taking care of our neighbors”
So she goes to her neighbor’s house and demands to inject them with the experimental happy juice du Jour?
Don’t sound too neighborly to me.
And Winters is a tiny little dump off the 505 where the wind blows too much, so obviously she was psychologically damaged as a kid growing up there.
This is what happens when your “public servants” know that you can’t vote them out of office.
Of course this would not be a one time thing. This would be recurring, every year.
I have never been to Wwinters, but I am guessing the sentiment there does not support her.
It’s a farm town that makes Salinas look cosmopolitan.
So I suspect you’re right - she’s one of those people who they have only a vague idea of how she really votes when she drives over to Sacramento. She probably just outed herself and will face some serious questions from the home front real soon.
Just imagine the amount of drug company donations going to these politicians.
Does anyone needs any more reasons to leave that crap-hole of a state!?
I don’t give a crap about “how nice” the weather is. Weather isn’t worth tyranny.
But please stay out of Texas! Biden is already importing voters from South America by the hundreds of thousands in the dark of night. Putting them in Dallas, Houston and El Paso.
