House Bill 2764 (HB2764), sponsored by Representative Dave Wright (R-Corryton-District 19) and Senate Bill 2616 (SB2616), sponsored by Senator Frank Niceley (R-Strawberry Plains – District 8), as introduced, would prohibit a person from being nominated as a candidate for United States senator or member of the United States house of representatives unless the person has voted in the three previous elections in this state (Tennessee). – Amends TCA Title 2.
Should this bill pass into law, it would stymie the campaigns of Republican congressional candidates Robby Starbuck and Morgan Ortagus for the District 5 U.S. Representative seat currently held by Democrat Jim Cooper, who announced he will not seek re-election after Tennessee’s redistricting plans were finalized.

Has Trump withdrawn his endorsement? If not, this can only be interpreted as party leadership trying to cancel Trump from the party. Not very surprising considering their rino-track record.

Why? What is special about having voted three times in the state. Consecutive times? Ever? Latest three times?
Someone is trying to do a bill of attainder.
So, in this instance, I disagree with you, because they are very obviously trying to deny the Trump endorsed candidate, along with the MAGA America first supporter's preferred candidate.
How about some bills saying the only ones allowed to donate money to a politician running to represent the state, must have voted in the past three elections?
This is an unconstitutional idea to further qualify the rules specified for a federal office. How about a rule preventing anyone over 70 from running for Congress, the Senate, or President?
I like it, too.
I’m in this district and support this bill. We don’t want this lady. She just registered to vote months ago and doesn’t live in this district. We never even heard of her until the endorsement. We want someone local who knows their district well.
Starbuck is a carpetbagger, too. These people literally just appeared out of nowhere with no record or any accomplishments. I’m a lifelong resident of the 5th and we need someone who knows this district, not an opportunist who just moved in last week.
This would be struck down by the Federal courts.
I live here in TN. No one wants Ortagus! She is a rino!
I prefer things that are posted multiple times in a 24-hr period...
Increases the probability that I will get to see at least one of them...
Also, IMHO, increases the probability that the item will be of FR interest...
Starbuck was on Beck this week, he sounded good. His family escaped Cuba, he sounds like hell for freedom.
Also think twice on leadership endorsing Rinos. Trumps record of supporting. McConnell, Lindsey, and Romney and other Rinos isn’t so stellar. As a matter of fact for a man who ran The Apprentice, his record for hiring qualified people seriously sucks! I follow the Reagan 12 th commandment, trust but verify! Sometime I wonder if Trump has a clue who he endorces.
Agreed. 🙂 However, people do need to do a search before posting , and if several hours have passed then post it again. 🙂
Ditto. I think she’ll lose via the MAGA vote, so probably don’t even need to disqualify her. MAGA voters are smart and they know the score about Ortagus. Both she and Starbuck are carpetbaggers and it probably isn’t legal to disqualify either or them based on their length of residency. Got to find another reason to kick Ortagus to the curb. (Is “Bimbo” a disqualifier?)
Good idea, as long as I could still run. I’d fix this country right up!
Hmmm. That would have disqualified Hillary from her Senate run.
Well, vote for somebody else. That’s what most people do. Passing a law barring people from running for office puts the power in the rino party leadership.
Bad endorsement, like McCain, Romney, McConnell, Grahamnesty, Tillis, Cornyn, Rubio, etc.
Be careful what you wish for. Next it will be other criteria that determines who can run. Political reasons even. I always thought the qualifications for a US senator/Representative were in the constitution. So do we want to back away from that? The democrats are already trying to disqualify people based on there comments in relation to J6.
