Sweden has no plans now to apply for NATO membership and isn’t considering the issue, the country’s Foreign Minister Ann Linde said on Monday, TASS reported.
This is stated in the foreign policy declaration 2022, released by the country's government.
"Freedom from military alliances serves us well and contributes to stability and security in Northern Europe,” Linde said.
Such a course, she added, implies an active, broad, and responsible security and foreign policy combined with deepening defense cooperation, including transatlantic cooperation.
The declaration makes no mention of the so-called NATO option. In December 2020, a parliamentary majority voted in favor of declaring that Sweden, like Finland, has this option. It means that Sweden retains the possibility of applying for membership in this alliance.
The declaration also assesses security policy, and includes the wording "an armed attack on Sweden cannot be ruled out." The government made this assessment in its General Defence Bill 2020, which was based on an analysis by the Defence Committee.

True that. And it was high-grade iron ore, which Hitler needed to keep on building his panzers. Sweden’s defenders would say that Sweden cooperated to keep from being invaded. Sweden’s detractors say Sweden was just out for the money.
The truth is probably somewhere in between. Anyway, I wonder if Sweden is foolishly taking in all those Muslim “refugees” as a way to ease their war guilt.

At which point we won’t need NATO anymore.
It seems to me that Russia just made the case abundantly clear why every country near it needs to be in a defense alliance.
There was a bad deal that literally wrecks NATO, gives Putin everything he wants, sacrifices Ukraine to Russia, and allows Biden to save face and “claim” victory. Meanwhile Hunter gets Russian cash to give to daddy.
NATO has lived long past its shelf life. It should be disbanded, period.

It’s not going anywhere so the Russian Putin Boot Lickers are going to have to accept reality.
