Dr. Robert Califf was narrowly confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday to lead the Food and Drug Administration, placing him back in the role he held during the final year of the Obama administration.

The Senate confirmed President Biden’s nominee 50-46, after Califf received opposition from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who argued the doctor bore “a great deal of responsibility” for massive drug overdose deaths that have happened since his last tenure in the position.

Califf, a longtime cardiology professor at Duke University, served in the role for a short 11 months and was replaced by former President Donald Trump at the start of his administration. For his first tenure, Califf was easily confirmed, 89-4.

He was confirmed 89-4 for this position under Obama, and 50-46 today under Biden.

The acting person in this position, Janet Woodcock, has a track recording of forcing FDA employees to go soft on the FDA. The IBS drug Lotronex is an example, where he forced FDA employees to put aside their concerns and give a pass to the pharmaceutical industry.

Same group as always. I’m only surprised Linda Graham didn’t vote for him.

MO, NC, NE, AK, UT and PA voters who elected these clowns can rot in hell.

Bernie Sanders also voted against him.

In 2016 Manchin, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.). were the four votes against him. Sanders said he was against him, but missed the vote.

So, only one Republican voted against him in 2016: Kelly Ayotte.

From Wikipedia:

“In 2019, he became head of medical strategy at Google parent company Alphabet Inc.”

“He was a paid consultant for Merck Sharp & Dohme, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly per ProPublica from 2009 to 2013.”

The FDA is the property of Pharma Fascism.

A few outright RINOs (Collins, Romney, Murkowski) voted for him. They were joined by 3 Republicans that are retiring and obviously looking forward to becoming pharma lobbyists.

Yeah, but they’re the “lesser-of-two-evils.” Sarcastically said, of course.

The Uniparty has mastered the subjugation of conservatives to that insanity.

Democrats were able to confirm Califf with votes in favor from Republican Sens. Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah and Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania, the usual RINOs.

Let's face it, the GOP isn't who they say they are.

So far under Biden they have helped him get everything he wanted out of congress except Build Back Better. Including:

They've been far more supportive of Biden's uber-radical agenda than they were of Trump's agenda. Pay attention to what they DO, not what they SAY. Then it's clear that they are not actually on our side.

What laws did Trump try to pass that were voted against?

The wall.
Infrastructure.

There's two. They didn't vote against them, they blocked them from ever even happening. Technicality. They pushed Biden's stuff through so he actually got votes. Which they supported when needed.
