Americans' inflation fears declined for the first time in over a year in January, although concerns over rising prices remained near a record-high level, according to a key Federal Reserve Bank of New York survey published Monday.
The median expectation is that the inflation rate will be up 5.8% one year from now, down from an 11-year high of 6%, according to the New York Federal Reserve's Survey of Consumer Expectations. It marked the first time since October 2020 that consumers' short-term inflation expectations fell. Inflation expectations over the next three years also dropped to 3.5%, down from 4% last month.

I loan private mortgage money, I don’t borrow. It’s a great side hustle.
Yep, big difference between fear and acceptance.
I said yesterday that I was certain that Hillary and Obama would tell Biden to change gears...and focus on the economy...and let the Russia Russia Russia dialogue fall to the wayside.
“Yep, big difference between fear and acceptance.”
Very good, this heads toward my point. You don’t start to move forward and take on a problem until you lose your fear of it.
Fear will make any illness or any other problem worse, and that makes for poor decision making and paralysis.
Inflation isn’t going to lay down for us, we have to work around it as best we can until the cycle changes, which it always does. We lived with unusually low inflation for so long we thought it was normal. It wasn’t and this isn’t either.
One of my favorite affirmations applies:
“Obstacles are opportunities to test resolve and find purpose.”
Americans are not in fear of inflation.
Americans have never been in fear of inflation.
Eastasia has always been at war with Oceania.
Into the breach!
“Americans’ inflation fears declined for the first time in over a year in January”
Righhhhhhhht!
They not be fearing it, but they are FELLING IT.
I like that.
Currently awaiting test results from my husband and mother - both biopsied for cancer and neither outcome would be good if either is positive.
BS
LOL, yeah Right as they have been 100% wrong!
“Currently awaiting test results from my husband and mother - both biopsied for cancer and neither outcome would be good if either is positive.”
Prayers up for a good outcome! How stressful for you, best wishes, FRiend!

Just because you are still in fear doesn’t mean everyone else is. I think most have moved from fear to anger.
I’ve been through worse than this. High inflation plus very high interest and mortgage rates was much worse than this go-round. People going bankrupt right and left, much more suffering than now.
I’m not skeert of inflation.
It’s those dang prices o’ stuff that keeps goin’ up that skeers me.
Whoever experienced DECLINING inflation fears is a) ill-informed, b) a Fed stooge, or c) an idiot. Inflation will get much, much worse before it gets any better.
Went into a Ralphs store here in LA a large steak $48.00 my inflation fears not declining gas is $4.48 and that’s at a off brand station.
So, are you saying that perhaps people are doing something similar to cope with inflation? Is that why you are suggesting this book?
While I suppose that may be the case, I personally believe the FED is shoveling out BS. Perhaps it's because the government has obviously been shoveling out BS over the past year+. When you realize that the government is capable of shoveling out BS, then it becomes almost a natural mental process to think along those lines, perhaps. 🙂
I am well aware that the FED is not part of the federal government, even though they give many the impression that they are with their name, Federal Reserve. That being said, they certainly have played favorites over the many decades that have been in existence.
While I also recognize that a larger percentage of Americans have become less intelligent, despite that education from grades 1 thru 12 must be provided until age 18. The real frightening aspect, however, is that an even larger percentage have totally lost their ability to think critically for themselves. Therefore, they rely on others to do the critical thinking for them. As a result they are easily swayed to adopt the thoughts of others, and this usually is controlled by their emotional considerations when choosing whom they want to follow.
Nobody said I was in fear except you. I don’t believe that less people are now than last month. The headline just doesn’t make sense as they are talking about it more now than they have in the past. Another State Run Media lie, in my opinion.
I’m guessing the person who wrote the questions for this poll is new and not well supervised,
Or he’s stupid.
Or he’s making a point polls can be meaningless if terms aren’t defined well or those polled are too stupid to understand the questions...
If it’s the last choice, I’m interested...
I lived thru the 70s...I ain’t skeered. Will be worse, however. Wiemar Republic like.
