WINDSOR, Ontario (AP) — The busiest U.S.-Canada border crossing reopened late Sunday after protests against COVID-19 restrictions closed it for almost a week, while Canadian officials held back from a crackdown on a larger protest in the capital, Ottawa.
Detroit International Bridge Co. said in a statement that “the Ambassador Bridge is now fully open allowing the free flow of commerce between the Canada and US economies once again.” Esther Jentzen, spokeswoman for the company, said in a later text to The Associated Press that the bridge reopened to traffic at 10 p.m.

I think I see a way for truckers to shut it down again.
As another FReeper wrote on another posting, the truckers should cross at slow speed, two abreast. It would not ‘block’ the bridge, but it would sure slow it down! I REALLY LIKE THAT IDEA!
It would be an excellent way to say, “LET’S GO TRUDEAU!”

Commerce? Closing businesses is suddenly bad now? After two years?
Truckers have already shown they are willing to protest instead of hauling cargo. If the protest is shut down, they will not go back to work, they’ll just go home.

ANTIFA tried that crap. They should have arrested more of them in Seattle and Portland and elsewhere.
Truckers should stop hauling goods. The govt.would cave in one week.
They could just do it on the Canadian side of the bridge. The OPP would have a heck of a hard time trying to prove a conspiracy, or even dangerous driving. IIRC, there is no posted minimum speed on the bridge.
Imagine the bad press, if they DID try to charge a trucker with driving too SLOWLY? (”The police want me to drive at a speed greater than I judge is safe.”)
How many supply carrying semi-trucks does this include? Any? Somehow I doubt it...
Trudeau should be thankful 20 radical Muslim truckers (actually 19 because 1 got left behind at a rest stop) didn’t try to fly their trucks into the bridge. I think the government should look into trucker driving schools to see if any students are only interested in driving and not stopping.

These peaceful protests are being compared to Gandhis independence movement for India. If that is true I look forward to another wave of trucks blocking the bridge and another and another until the authorities give up.
I suspect the family that owns the bridge had something to say about it opening back up....

How long did the British imprison Gandhis and his followers. Were they beaten? Historians say Gandhis only succeeded because the British were peaceful. His methods would never work in a communistic country. Does it work in China or Korea? The January 6th prisoners are in for a year already.
