Already treacherous enough in the best of weather, the "Ice River" giant slalom course became downright impossible for a full third of the field in the men's GS.

Are you sure this wasn’t “The Claudine Longet Invitational Ski Tournament”?
Winter Olympics 2022 | NBC Sports
Dang. I usually watch NASCAR races just for this..........!

Why were they running in “blizzard” conditions?
Yes, the sick mind of Michael O’Donoghue.
“Why were they running in “blizzard” conditions?”
Did we hear before the games started that there was no snow and it had to be man-made???
Crashes like their ratings? FU Olympics
Stuff like this makes me despise China and their Olympic Committee even more.
Those athletes were all placed into a no-win situation.
The fake snow is basically compacted ice crystals, which explains why they keep skidding out as anyone would on ice sheets with skis.
As for the blizzard and low vis conditions, that just made the entire situation worse since the athletes had to ski on ice without the ability to see where they are going.
FU Communist China, and FU Olympic Committee.
“Quick. We need to increase ratings. Spray some water on the ski slopes. That will make for some dramatic TV.”
Confucius say, when IOC give China Olympics it bound to slip and fall on ass.
If these guys can’t handle skiing on ice, they have NO BUSINESS being in the Olympics.
😆😆😆 Back when humor was the intent of a live comedy show.
The NBC Sport video which I presume was for American consumption showed the temp as Celsius. The announcer did not provide a translation.
Celsius -16.2° = Fahrenheit 2.84° It was damm cold.
My thought also.
God meant for people to ski, but, behind a boat!
I’ve worked on over 30 World Cup races and countless national and international level races as a coach, section chief or just manning a rake and shovel. I have raced in well over 75 international races including over 40 FIS International Masters Cup races, I have earned lots of podiums and even won a few races... You don’t know what you are talking about!
Almost all races are run on courses set on man made snow, we’re used to the ice! What appears to be a complete lack of proper course maintenance, workers clearing the track of new snow was the problem! THE CHINESE “F”ED UP and it’s lucky more people weren’t hurt!! THE RACE SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSTPONED or STOPPED for the safety of the athletes.
“You don’t know what you are talking about!”
Of course not, but you have to admit that I’m having fun here! And yea, ice is a bitch, as I too have been down a slope or two (didn’t live in Texas all my life). I could not imagine trying to race on ice, as I cannot even imagine racing at all when my main goal is to be able to turn before hitting a tree.
