THE TREE OF LIFE

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him." (John 3:16,17).

One night I was watching a movie. At the end, the cowboy turned and put the name of his girlfriend in the window of his car for all to see. Then he put his arm around her and pulled her close. It has long been a custom for lovers to carve their initials in the trunk of a tree. Today, young romantics spray paint them on freeway overpasses or walls of abandoned buildings. It's the same sort of idea.

Once, in high school, a boy carved my name in a heart-shaped wood sculpture. It was a long time ago, but the memory of being claimed that loudly, that openly has never left me. Who doesn't want to be loved like that? Wouldn't it be nice if there was someone to put all our names on the windows of a car, or a license plate, or a tree? Unfortunately, the names on windows, license plates and trees change. Some are left out, and some are never written at all.

Once, long ago, there was another kind of tree; and this tree was able to hold all our initials. They were carved deeply for all to see, and they will never be crossed out. That tree was made into a cross, the cross where Jesus died. A King has claimed you and me. He has put His arm around us and pulled us close. He has put our names where they can be seen for eternity. Could anyone really love me that much? Sometimes it is hard to trust, even harder to believe, but the initials are there for all to see. And there they will remain FOREVER.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, no one has ever loved me as You have. I ask that You come into my life today. Forgive me of my sins and teach me Your ways. Amen

LCDR Bettie J. Davis, CHC, USN

"....and he said, "Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat; thus says the Lord to you, 'Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's.

~ You need not fight in this battle; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.' Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them, for the Lord is with you."

2 Chronicles 20:15, 17

I’m back. I had to cut a ham I baked today off the bone, bag it to freeze, and clean up the aftermath. Most work I’ve done all day. LOL

We managed to squeak out 41 degrees this afternoon so it doesn’t sound like we were much chillier than you were. Down to 30 now and the wind is still blowing. I had to step out to chuck the hambone and BRRRR!

At least you had sunshine. It was cloudy here. We had a close call with some snow flurries but that missed us.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Was it as nippy as you expected yesterday? Gizmo probably didn’t mind it as much as you did. Nippy makes him frisky. LOL

Nah. No pea soup for us. Not too hot on that stuff.

Plenty of dinners ahead and a bag of little chunks that I’ll use for a casserole one day.

Mmmm...ham sounds good. We had some in the freezer from the one hubby fixed for Thanksgiving. I finally used it all up last week. It was as fresh as if I cooked it last week.

Yeah, you’re a bit cooler than we are. lt’s 36 here now, but not much wind. I’m about to wind stuff up and head out so tomorrow morning won’t be embarrassing. LOL!

Been doctoring Peaches. He has, not one but, two booboo’s on the back of his neck where some other cat or something punctured him good. And of course, as always with him, they became infected. I’ve been putting hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic cream on them, and they are looking much better. Not well, but at least clean and not as angry looking. Poor guy.

See ya tomorrow!

We just don’t care for pea soup.

Well, Gizmo went a little to fast for me to do very many pictures of him yesterday. He rolled around in dirt and grass in a number of places and he thought he saw either dogs or deer up the lake and was eager to run off through the lake.

Thankfully the leash held or else I would have never caught up with my valuable house protection dog.

Here are the pics I was able to get yesterday at Comanche Lake. We have another trip planned later today.

Good morning, ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

Are you done with snow for a bit? They say we will be having snow for the next week. Maybe 6” for this last storm. Another coming early morning. We will see.

Hubby recently ate the last of the Thanksgiving ham so I got another one. I didn’t get as lucky with this one. The last one had the tiniest nub of a bone I’ve ever seen in a ham but this one had a pretty good-sized one. Darn the luck.

Poor Peaches. At least it’s been a while since he last had those booboos but it stinks that he got them at all. Good to hear that your ministrations are doing the job. I’m sure he appreciates the relief.

Get some good sleep! No nodding off in church in the morning. :-)

You had a mighty pretty day over there. Wish we’d had that pretty blue sky.
It sounds like Gizmo made the best of it while you were out, even if he didn’t get to chase whatever he thought he saw. LOL

It snowed steadily all night, and was still snowing about 11a, but really slowing down when I first went out, altho driving was dicey...to the north. Then off to Dimond Center to the south. Snowing very lightly there, but not at all when I came out about 1p.

Glad you got passed by. Hope you didn’t have to go out in the cold.

I saw it was snowing last night when I checked the cam a couple of times. Then it was a white-out when I looked after I woke up today. It got real foggy about 3 hours or so ago. I thought something was wrong with the cam when I pulled it up then I noticed a faint light from a building across the lake. Now it’s clear.

If you’re going to have ice, it’s a good thing you got out today. Dicey as it was, it’ll be worse later.

I didn’t go anywhere today but did have to step out a little while ago. The wind makes it very uncomfortable.

But nothing like they’re dealing with in Ottawa! It’s been brutal there today and people were still out en masse. I don’t know how they can do that! They aren’t out now though. I’m watching my favorite streamer at the moment and there’s hardly a soul on the streets. Normally there’d still be many. It’s -6 and windy there and tomorrow is supposed to be colder than today was.

I’m almost shivering as I watch, just thinking about it. LOL

Good morning, E...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours. Sure glad your leash did its job!!

Glad Gizmo had a good time despite not being able to chase like he would have liked. Glad no ice was around either.

You boys have a wonderful new outing today.
