California would mandate that all businesses require their employees and independent contractors to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under legislation announced Friday by Democratic state lawmakers that was immediately criticized by Republicans as government overreach.
Employees or contractors who qualify for medical or religious exemptions would have to be regularly tested under a planned amendment to the bill. New employees would have to get at least one dose by the time they start work and the second dose within 45 days of being on the job.
Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks introduced her bill months after delaying an original proposal last fall. The previous version would have allowed workers to submit to weekly testing as an alternative to getting vaccinated, but that is not an option in her new proposal.
Vaccines mandates are highly controversial and there have been many rallies at the state Capitol in Sacramento opposing such requirements.
Wicks and other supporters said the mandate is needed even as California moves to ease other requirements and anticipates moving into a new “endemic” phase that accepts the coronavirus is here to stay but is manageable as immunity builds.
“That’s fundamentally what this bill is about," she said. "Getting back to some sense of normalcy so we can go on with our lives, and we don’t have these constant interruptions and outbreaks and all these things that we’ve been experiencing for so long.”
The mandate would stay in place unless the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decides that COVID-19 vaccinations are no longer needed.
The bill would require state health and occupational safety officials to advise employers on what qualifies as a medical condition, disability, religious belief and valid vaccination status. Businesses that didn't comply would face penalties that have yet to be determined.

The whole COVID thing is dying and people are fed up with the tyrannical overreach of all governments and here are the Dems, introducing a bill that is sure to outrage people. I look forward to the Freedom Convoy rolling into Sacramento County, then converging on the Statehouse and crippling that stinking city.
Maybe (just maybe) this is what's needed to galvanize a Republican resurgence in the state.

Forcing people to take a vaccine that does not work.
Mandate has zero to do with healthcare. I recommend every CA resident who is able, to quit your job if this somehow passes.
We don’t have to ruled by their ridiculous fear. This is so unconstitutional.
At least not for its stated purpose it doesn’t. It’s good at killing sterilizing and causing blood clots. So I guess we have to ask what is the government’s reasoning for doing this?

All of that news is so encouraging, but we are still defeated at every turn. How the hell do we continue to have this stinking, rotten one-party tyrannical government in CA?
For those who keep saying that the Democrats are no different than Republicans, consider the fact that the Democrats are even FAR WORSE than Leftists in other countries (maybe with the exception of Germany and Austria), in that it is now ONLY US Democrats who are ADDING Vaccine Mandates, while the rest of the world (Norway today) is dropping them left and right.

That’s what really gets me. Everybody (except a few sensible souls) here on the SF Peninsula is masked up. Nobody is asking “Why are we all masked up if we are vaccinated? Why didn’t the vaccines work? Why is their efficacy waning so rapidly?”
I passed another guy on the sidewalk in town yesterday who wasn’t masked. He smiled a knowing smile at me. The unmasked are like a not-so-secret fraternity, kind of like motorcycle riders waving at each other or Jeep drivers waving at each other.

Exactly right. This needs to be hammered home at every opportunity. They are really swimming against the tide on this. I hope this is their undoing in CA and we can regain some sanity here.
We’re living in the dumbest time in American history. Anyone with a brain who’s paying attention knows that the current vaccines’ efficacy in preventing infections and transmissions is approximately ZERO. And yet, against all facts and logic, the Dem politicians stubbornly insist that the vaxxes are a magical solution.
This is what I fear will happen in my state under our tyrant.
And that proposed mandate runs right into that judiciary ruling about the companies with 100 or more employees...
