Enes Kanter Freedom Gets Traded To The Rockets And Waived(ccp suggestion?)

Enes Kanter Freedom’s time in the NBA might be over.

The former Boston Celtics center was traded Thursday to the Rockets, and he was then waived by the Rockets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

There is a very high chance he never plays in the league again.

Remember when I said Freedom’s outspoken criticism of China and the CCP might cost him his career? Well, it looks like that’s exactly what has happened.

Kanter is 100% good enough to be a solid role player in the NBA. That’s just a fact, but his minutes were slashed by the Celtics as he exposed the horrific crimes of the dictatorship in Beijing, and he’s now been waived after being traded.

I would be shocked if another team signs him. The league bows down to China, and the last thing a team wants to do is upset the CCP.

Signing Enes Kanter Freedom and playing him would be a gigantic middle finger to China. We all know the NBA won’t do anything to threaten their relationship with the CCP.

And somehow I don’t think Nike is going to give him a sneaker - nor will Kapernick speak out about this…

Why would a team trade for a guy and then immediately release him? It doesn’t make sense . . . UNLESS the whole thing was done to get him out of the league. Is the Rockets owner the one who got China mad a couple of years ago, and is this a make-up gesture?

Celtics fan here.

The deal made total basketball sense from Boston’s perspective and he really is at best a deep bench guy on a marginal team at this point. Seemed like a good teammate, was a good rebounder, has size and is willing to use it, but just very limited on D and increasingly problematic on O. He used to earn his keep just on putbacks off offensive rebounds, but he’s struggled with that as well. Hurts you on spacing for O and not switchable to the perimeter on D.

Probably has a couple of good years left for a European team if nobody picks him up to finish out the season here now.

Oh, and the C’s rookie coach hasn’t played other than his top 8 regularly all year—and Enes wasn’t one of them.

Well let’s “unpack” this, as the current buzzword goes. Kanter was born in Switzerland to Turkish parents. That makes him Caucasian. Strike 1 and 2 since he’s not African and not black. He also apparently holds pro-American views. Strike 3 and he’s out of the NBA.

Yes, it was the Rockets. I think it was the GM who made some disparaging comments about Red China and the Red China-loving owner reprimanded him for it.

Real Americans don’t.

That leaves out NBA fans.

Why would a team trade for a guy and then immediately release him? It doesn’t make sense

This is normally done due to salary cap and luxury tax ramifications. A team basically trades some of their cap burden over to a team that can "afford" to take the "hit" caused by waiving the player.

As I understand it, when a trade is made, the difference in salaries from one team to another needs to be comparable (credit former horrible Cavs GM Ted Stepien for that). However, when a player is waived, he must be paid for the remainder of the year which then affects the salary cap and any luxury tax paid by the waiving team.

I think normally, a team with "room" to absorb that will work out a deal for a trade and subsequent waiver.

I don't pretend to understand all of the inner-workings, but this is not unprecedented.

I think he's averaging a bit under four points per game at about 12 minutes played for about $5 million/year. So waiving him doesn't seem too far out of the realm of possibility.

Not just the NBA, but all pro sports, corporate America and US politicians. They all want a piece of China’s market of 1.7 billion people and government bribes. They have already sold their souls for it and are now trying to deny us rights to stay in China’s good grace.

Piss on ‘em all.

And remember, anybody that buys products and services from companies like Nike, Apple, Disney, or supports the NBA is part of problem.

I gave up watching all so-called “pro sports” — except F1, IMSA/FIA & IndyCars — 20 years ago.

Daryl Morey who criticized the chicom bastards is now GM of the Sizers. He was with the Rockets when he said this. And the Rockets owner is a commie bastard too. Enes made more than $20 million his career. He’s good financially.
