Thousands of unvaccinated New York City municipal workers are up against a deadline on Friday to get a COVID-19 shot or get fired, with Mayor Eric Adams apparently determined to carry out the terminations despite an outcry from union leaders.
Fewer than 4,000 of the city's 370,000 workers were facing termination at the end of January as a result of the mandate, according to the mayor's office, which said it expected to have an updated number of affected city employees on Monday.
Although that would represent less than 1% of the city's workforce, it would be one of the biggest worker reductions in the United States due to a vaccine requirement.

There is a reason I have no desire to ever visit that country. It’s just too goofy and runs roughshod over individual rights. Same with Turkey and Yemen.
And the level of services will not be affected.
Who would notice if “thousands of municipal workers” were terminated? The MTA remains fully staffed even though ridership is only 30% of 2019 levels. Commercial real estate in Manhattan has historically high and non sustainable vacancy rates. When the Biden bucks run out, New York will have to face reality.
Just as “little O” fades away, leaving immunity in its wake.

Firing thousands of workers for not taking an experimental vaxx, for a viral strain that no longer exists, for a virus that has now mutated down to the level of the common cold. Talk about lacking situational awareness coupled with mass hysteria.
Of course, what can I say. One of our very own Freepers hoped I would catch Covid and die a few weeks back for daring to talk up innate immunity.

Since they’re all Union, they will probably get paid when they are reinstated....when the dumb a** mayor comes to his census.
A definition of insanity is Democrats continuing on their insane policy of firing the unvaccinated while the current overwhelming knowledge is natural immunity is better than vaccinated immunity [which is fleeting].
Not too surprising, however, considering Democrats have a near universal monopoly of the news media and education establishment. They don’t appear to have much brain matter which is active right now.
Wonder of wonders, why are we having so much trouble filling important jobs which are needed to keep the economy going????? DUH!!!
