Institute for National Strategic Studies National Defense University Responding to China: The Case For Global Justice and Democratic Socialism

By Thomas Piketty INSS Speaker Series February 16, 2022 – Event Details

The event will be held February 16, 2022, from 1200-1300, on the Strategic Multilayer Assessment platform and is open to the public. An access link will be posted the week of the event. Summary

Western countries are still struggling to define their attitude towards the Beijing regime. In this talk on February 22, 2022, Thomas Piketty will argue that the right answer lies in ending Western arrogance and promoting a new emancipatory and egalitarian horizon on a global scale, a new form of democratic and participatory, ecological and post-colonial socialism. If they stick to their usual lecturing posture and a dated hyper-capitalist model, Western countries may find it extremely difficult to meet the Chinese challenge. Speaker Bio

BOMBSHELL: Biden Family Scored $31 Million from Deals with Individuals with Direct Ties to the Highest Levels of Chinese Intelligence
Jan 24, 2022

The Biden family scored $31 million from five deals in China, all with individuals with direct ties to the Chinese spy apparatus, according to a bombshell new book.

Multiple financiers with direct ties to Chinese intelligence partnered with Hunter Biden during and after his father’s time as Vice President — including the former head of the Ministry of State Security and the head of foreign intelligence recruitment — and some of those relationships remain intact, according to Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer.

Schweizer explains that Beijing saw a financial relationship with the Bidens as an opening for “elite capture,” which allowed Hunter Biden to secure meetings and score major deals with people in the highest levels of Chinese financial institutions and the Chinese Communist Party — and in return they would be able to leverage the Bidens’ power for their interests.

One of the central early players in the Bidens’ Chinese deals is a tycoon by the name of Che Feng, or “The Super Chairman,” as Hunter and his partners referred to him.

Che, the son of a PLA soldier, has been described in Western media as “a shadowy and discreet investor,” whose father-in-law was the governor of the People’s Bank of China, and whose business partner was the Vice Minister of State Security, a man by the name of Ma Jian. Schweizer writes that Ma was reportedly the director of the ministry’s No. 8 Bureau, overseeing North American operations targeting foreigners with its counterintelligence apparatus.

“The hazard of a Chinese businessman with close ties to the top ranks of Beijing’s spy agency conducting financial transactions with the son of the U.S. vice president cannot be overstated. How this did not set off national security or ethics alarm bells in Washington is a wonder in itself,” Schweizer writes in Red-Handed....

31 million is probably just what they know of. Most likely way higher.

Several months. Ago, there was an article about Biden’s Early user tied. I laughed it off.

Little did I think we are driving toward NKorea.

That a supposedly "American" National Defense University invites and publishes work by a French professor who advocates socialism (the precursor to Communism) -- having written, like Marx, extensively on "capitalism" -- is a tell.

The Biden administration is as pro-socialism as any in the history of the US. Just as Venezuela and Canada "voted" to rid themselves of guns, the Democratic Socialists hoped to fool the American electorate yet again.

Piketty says "...the distribution of wealth is too important an issue to be left to economists, sociologists, historians, and philosophers.." It's an amusingly silly quote from an economist as from a sociologist as for a historian of capital. Conclusion: it is too important to be left to him too. Or the National Defense University or advocates of socialism"

Oddly he fails to notice that in all -- ALL -- socialist, fascist, corporatist and Communist countries, the political elite are those gathering the most wealth. It is done by force as by stealth. This is true of much of the American political class, lest one fail to notice the avarice of the well-connected.

The opposite of socialism -- even Democratic Socialism, as Europeans will call this -- is liberty. Less government. Less powerful government. More open government. Smaller government. Less expensive government.

But as an economist and sociologist and historian of "capital," he should know that the issue is "too important" for him to be blathering on about.

This is the type of thinking that now dominates in France and Germany. Rational, decent Americans are coming to realize that foreign entanglements such as NATO are what is outdated and harmful to the American nation.

Woke Generals Lead to Decline in Trust for Officers

Wed Jan 12, 2022 Daniel Greenfield

Here at Front Page Magazine, we’ve spent a lot of time covering the radicalization of the military with our Disloyal Military section and pamphlets like Disloyal: How the Military Brass is Betraying Our Country, and the consequences of woke brass destroying public trust does not surprise us.

Pushing critical race theory and calling for purges of conservatives is going to have consequences. And we’re seeing the beginning of that in the Gallup polling numbers.

Military officers’ ethics rating has declined 10 points since Gallup last measured it, in 2017, while TV reporters’ has fallen nine points over the same period. Both declines are mainly the result of reduced acclaim from Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

Military officers are still revered more by Republicans (67%) than Democrats and Democratic leaners (59%), but their image among the GOP is now the lowest Gallup has recorded since the first reading, in 2002, a period spanning Republican and Democratic presidencies. While it’s likely that Republicans’ reduced esteem for U.S. military leaders is related to the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan last summer, the cause cannot be pinpointed, given the four-year gap since the prior measurement.

Seriously? It can’t be pinpointed.

Going from 84 to 67 is not about Afghanistan, it’s about Chairman Milley defending critical race theory. It’s about Defense Secretary Austin’s political witchhunts, and the growing efforts by lefties to politicize the military.

It's a matter of funding the military-industrial complex while kissing up to a Left that doesn't see they are supporting Biden's Raytheon multi-milliomaire guy, Austin, and a bunch more just like him. The Lefties want to "look, a squirrel" their own supporters while lifting their wallets.

A newly revealed text message from French President Emmanuel Macron indicated he knew a multibillion-dollar submarine deal with Australia was on the rocks days before the Land Down Under announced a nuclear sub pact with the US and the UK.

That message seemed to call into question the Paris government’s assertions that it had been blindsided by the new agreement.

A report by the Australian Financial Review also suggests that Macron played up the rift between the US and its oldest ally to extract a groveling statement of contrition from the American president at last week’s G20 summit in Rome.

The AFR reported this week that two days before the deal known as AUKUS was announced to the world on Sept. 15, Macron messaged Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to ask: “Should I expect good or bad news for our joint submarines ambitions?”

The publication also reported that Macron refused to accept Morrison’s call the following day informing him the agreement for France to build Australia diesel-electric submarines was dead.
