US Gun Sales Collapsed Last Month

Gun violence has become a regular part of the news headlines this year. Murders in American cities spiked last year, particularly in large cities. Guns were involved in most of these. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there already have been 4,706 gun deaths across the country so far in 2022. Even with more strict gun ownership and purchasing laws, the difficult fact is that about 400 million guns are currently owned by private citizens, the police and the military. The chance that civilians who own guns will turn them into the government, no matter what the incentive, is small. Gun sales, using the NICS Firearms Background Check as a proxy, reached 38,876,673 last year. This was down slightly from the record set in 2020 of 39,695,315.

There are several theories about the sharp rise in gun sales over the past two years. Among them is the violence in American cities during protests. Another is the fear that people might have to protect their property during the pandemic, even if this is absurd.

Translation: firearms and ammunition manufacturers are about to report great earnings. My masters have instructed me to write hit pieces to depress the stocks so they can get in low and profit on the earnings reports.

"Illinois (473,953)"

Impressive. Is there something happening in Illinois that we should know about?

Outside of Chicago is totally different than inside Chicago.

Lots of Gun Owners outside.

A lot more new gun owners inside Chicago & Burbs. The violence is so bad that even the women and old people are buying self defense weapons.

They know the Police are incapable of helping them survive.

It is fight or leave. Lots are leaving.

“I am seeing mucho ammo back in stock at relatively great pricing. 1000 rounds of 9mm for $399.”

So, basically .40 cents per round. That’s much better.

My Pillow is doing quite well. Sales and profits went way up when woke retailers dropped them.

“Most people are stocked up and don’t need another gun.”

Or exhausted and temporarily broke from shopping for and buying them.😎

I am looking for LRMag primers. They are pretty rare.

Late last year, I did an inventory on my .223, 9mm, .45, and .308.

I reload. It relaxes me. At some point I crossed into “I may have a storage problem” zone. I mean in what world do I need 2000 rounds of 45-70?

I see some 9mm and plenty .223 with a handful of .308 and 7mm08 thrown in for flavor, but no primers.

You’re right.

Or budgeting for food and gas and other necessities as inflation roars.

It’s like My Pillow...... sale saturation

Not really. Most people only want one or two pillows to sleep on. I don't know anyone who is interested in firearms who doesn't want more of them. Usually the limit is either the budget or how much room there is in the safe.

Substitute LIBERTY for property.
—————
People in my area have been buying guns because they do not trust our government. Plain and simple.I don’t know anyone that has just one, 3-4 , even dozens. If there is a slow down, it is because lots of money is being spent on stockpiling ammo. The local Academy Sports is getting much in, but the shelves are being depleted as quick as they are stocked, and they still have a 2 box limit. I see entire families in the ammo section, dad buys two, the wife buys two boxes, and the kids of legal age buy. Guns have gotten so cheap, people are buying up the cheap ammo then buy the gun according to the ammo they have.

Texas (127,737)

I believe this is grossly understated.

Gun shows, private sales, estate sales, inheritance.

Put them all together it is a lot.

Think I remember that Texas has about 2.5 million people.

Have seen estimates that there are privately held, 2.5 firearms per every man, woman and child in Texas.

I think it is actually more. I know a lot of people who have real collections. And many of them reload. So, ammo sales is not an indicator.

Since Obozo was in office, my components supply has grown every year.

4570 is fun to load.

Fun to shoot in moderation.

And... Yeah. I can crank out a few hundred quickly.

Listen. I skimmed as much off the top of the grocery budget as I could that month! ;)

It need more ammo, which is more critical at this point.
