Sen. Cruz: ‘We Need to Stand Up’ to China Holding ‘Our Supply Chains Hostage’

SWhen asked if it is possible for the U.S. to engage in free trade with a communist country such as China, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) did not answer directly but said the U.S. must stand up against China’s espionage, its military, and its holding hostage of America’s supply chains.

At the Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked Sen. Cruz, “The U.S. trade deficit with China in 2021 was more than $300 billion for the tenth year in a row. Can the U.S. have free trade with a Communist country?”

The senator said, “We need a far more serious approach to competing with China. China poses the single greatest geopolitical threat to the United States over the next century. We need to stand up to their espionage, to their military threat, and to their efforts to hold our supply chain hostage.”

It’s a lot more than just China is making the problem. And it may never come out. Remember when covid was traced back to Wuhan but it didn’t originate there? Marilyn Monroe died by suicide, JFK was shot by Oswald, Bobby was killed by Surhan, and we still don’t know where Jimmy Hoffa is.

Not everything is as it seems and the public is sold a used car to keep it that way. What you don’t know keeps you in the corral.

EXACTLY...
But with MANDATORY minimum wages, use more robots.

Tesla turnover is something people complain about-—
BUT Tesla pays well, benefits start at first minute on clock...

Musk has EVERY right to demand actual work for actual pay.

That’s like when I shop for shrimp. If the package says “Farm raised in China” I think: I wonder what they feed those farm raised shrimp? Like wise for farm raised veggies. I wonder what they use for fertilizer? Then just put the package down.

Is China the problem?

Then why are cargo ships stacking up on the west coast?

Politicians have been selling our country out for decades so I won’t hold my breath that they plan on fixing anything. Everything that can be made here should be made here.

Its as much a home-made American problem

taxation

hyper-regulation on environment, labor, insurance, green energy, etc. etc.

our debt-based economy

Wall street seeking to wring every last penny out of cash-flow, short-term thinking

crappy public education - focus on CRT and “social work” careers.

US government that would rather promote race-wars than stable, productive society.

lack of respect for trades and working class people

Ambulance chasing lawyers

the progressive welfare state discouraging work

This list could go on forever.

Yep make it here.

To do that you need to raise the tariffs so that companies have an incentive to manufacture here. No company is going to invest in manufacturing if they have to compete against Chinese labor at $12 a day for a 12 hour day.

And low interest loans to reputable manufacturers to set up manufacturing plants would be helpful as well. But don't do loans unless you're prepared to protect the industry with tariffs.

When I traveled once from Guangzhou to Zhongshan in a car driven by our corporate hosts, I noticed huge fish farms all along the highway...right near a giant nuclear power plant.

Seafood is definitely a product category where people should look for the "Made in America" label.

For 30+ years Globalists, mostly Republicans, have pitted American workers not only against each other but against third worlders. No wonder the GOP always struggles to gain and maintain a majority. The DemonRats are so lucky to have such incompetent, myopic, greedy, anti worker fools running the only other real party.

If China is holding our supply chain hostage it’s because corporate America gave them the power to do so.

True, but once upon a time, Republicans were known as Grand Ol Protectionists.

But I remember in the 70's the Democrats running ads trying to protect the garment industry, and Republicans arguing for free trade.

Free trade is not free. You pay for the cheap item form overseas, then you pay for support of the unemployed American worker, and then you pay for the share of taxes that the unemployed American worker isn't paying.

Garments aren't that critical a resource and there are many countries that compete in that arena, so that is an industry that should probably have been offshored, assuming we were at full employment. But Medicine, computers, robotics, military components and other critical things should be made here.

Last I read in our local paper there was a line of 140 container ships waiting to get into the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach. That’s a California problem, not a China problem.

It's even worse than that. Think about, the govt is creating money out of thin air. So people buy junk with it. Junk made overseas. So the money goes from govt, to consumer, to retailer and then ultimately to the producers in China. At least if the we made stuff here the inflated money would stay in the USA!!!

Globalism and "Free" Trade are so bad in every way.
