WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - The White House on Monday released a highly anticipated report from its labor task force that highlights low union participation in the U.S. government, and includes nearly 70 recommendations on how the government can help workers join labor unions and bargain collectively.
More than 300,000 employees in the federal government, the country's largest employer, are eligible to join a union but have not, the report said.
The government will offer unions seeking to build membership greater access to federal employees, the reports says, and push agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board and the Federal Labor Relations Authority to coordinate on worker organizing.
Liz Shuler, president of the AFL-CIO, the country's largest labor federation, comprising 57 affiliated unions and 12.5 million workers, told Reuters the U.S. labor movement will "be the eyes and ears on the ground," making sure the report gets implemented.
"I think this could be a game changer, to have the power of the federal government examining itself and how its practices can be utilized to advance worker organizing," she said.

Agreed. I read “...help workers join labor unions...” to mean forcing workers to join with things like confiscating union dues from paychecks.
the political hacks take our hard-earned $$$ by force of arms (taxes)
they then hire a bunch of bureaucrats and “regulators”
(perhaps 90 percent of whom are not needed for honest, efficient government)
they then sign these multitudes up into unions
the unions then suck $$$ out of the bureaucrats’ paychecks (union dues, fees, and assessments)
the corrupt union bosses then kick back a big chunk of that $$$$ (which all was taken from us, the taxpayers) to the very political hacks who took the money from us in the first place
it is just armed robbery....using “unions” as the bagmen.

I was one of those who did not ever become a union member.
However, less than 10% of the people in my office were like-minded.
The Gov’t workers union is news? It’s been around for decades. There are exceptions based on securty clerances, which negate membership. Most of those exempt can continue to breath happy impartial breaths of relief.
The Unions got the idea from the Italian Mafia. Boss man and the enforcers to collect from the merchants. The people? Cancel Culture.

The Democrats are doing this (expanding the Union reach into federal employment) to enhance their own power and control. It worked very well when Trump was in office to have the behemoth federal bureaucracy thwart him at every turn. Union control of more of the employees only enhances that capability. This is locking in their control of the federal bureaucracy, making them responsive to only to the Leftist politicians - their fellow riders.
Just takes more power away from the people (the voters). Exactly what the political elite wants.
I’m a federal employee (27 years now) and have never joined the union. I’m now a manager now.
Most of my staff don’t join the union either. We all figured out long ago that the union actively works against federal employees who work hard, protecting only those employees who are slackers.
There should be NO government employee unions. That is essentially pitting the taxpayer versus the unionized employee. That is not good.
Labor unions are anti-free market, inherently socialistic, serve primarily to the benefit of the under-achievers, and inevitably are corrupted into a criminal organization.
