Former President Donald Trump on Jan. 31 lamented that the United States resembles a communist nation under his successor, pointing to rampant inflation, diminishing freedoms, and the porous U.S.–Mexico border.
“They’re destroying our country. They’re making us a different country. We’re becoming like a socialist or a communist state,” Trump told former top White House aide Kash Patel on his EpochTV’s “Kash’s Corner” program. The interview will premiere at 8 p.m. Eastern on Feb. 7.
“Why would they want to have a weak military? Why would they want to have high interest rates and higher taxes? And why would they want to have no border?” Trump said. “Why would they want to have no voter ID as an example, or sanctuary cities that take care of criminals? You go through all of these things, defund the police? Why do they want to defund our police?”
“It can’t be possibly good,” Trump said. “So either they’re stupid, which I don’t think they are, or they hate our country.”
Trump campaigned in 2020 by presenting the choice between him and then-candidate Joe Biden as one between freedom and communism. The former president never conceded the 2020 election in which the Democrats obtained control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

Well, communist states don’t have porous borders. No sirree.
Becoming? That train left the station a ways back, Mr. President.
So how do we ‘teach’ the public the effects of their vote? Do it in a way that makes them think they came up with the counter idea.

Trump isn’t exactly wrong.
Yes they do.
While the foreign communists are being allowed to immigrate illegally.
I’m halfway expecting to hear about some guy defecting in his F-15 soon.
Yea that one doesn't fit. And inflation isn't the exclusive province of communist states either. Though might be highly correlated.
But the erosion of freedoms are spot on. And I'm not talking about pandemic masks or lockdowns, though I know many will include those. I mean the political prosecutions, cancel culture, Big Tech censorship, election integrity, gun control, etc.
I would say closer to fascism based on the fact that most large corporations are working with the party in power to silence opposition.
Although let’s face it. Trump said “like” a communist state.
Trump knows all communist states as they were being formed never had an armed populace undergoing a great awakening as we have in our country right now.
Libtards think Venezuela is wonderful and want the same for us even if they have to import it illegally 🤪
Trump said it perfectly. The quote was “like a socialist or a communist state.”
Just to nitpick: We are currently a Socialist state that controls the distribution of goods and services through laws and bureaucracies. A communist state has total government control (ownership) of manufacturing and services, and then distributes them like a socialist state.
In the USSR, the government wasn’t in mortal fear of the people as our “government” currently is.
Becoming ? look at the store shelves
It’s not communism. No long bread lines. No gulag. No secret police. No state-planned economy. Yet. But it’s definitely not good. Whatever it is becoming.
empty store shelves
Fascism and communism are two sides of the same totalitarian coin.
a dictatorship of some sort, definitely yes
its so sad
