Former President Donald Trump shot back at his former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday after Pence said that Trump was “wrong” in claiming he had the ability as vice president to overturn the 2020 election, calling the notion of one man electing the president “un-American.”
In a fiery statement Friday night, Trump criticized Pence and his “unwitting advisors,” calling the former vice president “an automatic conveyor belt” for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for refusing to intervene in Biden’s election.

This infighting is no good
To: ChicagoConservative27
It’s very good. We need to clean up the republican party. It’s needed doing for years!
To: ChicagoConservative27
Probably not, but what we have been doing isn’t any good either. Ridding the party of rino control is not going to be easy or pleasant, but it must be done. It is interesting the only time Republicans show any fight is when they are attacking their own.

Pence is now irrelevant. He needs to ride off into the sunset.

“Trump claimed he lost due to widespread voter fraud, but courts rejected his claims.”
So the NY Post is agreeing with the notion that the fraud was summarily dismissed by the Deepers, and that’s OK.

Pence could not have “overthrown” the election. But he could call the results into question, and if upon review, the results WERE correct, there is no “overthrow”. If the results were faulty, then steps are to be taken to rectify that situation, all spelled out right there in the Constitution.
But we shall never know how the “could have been” would have turned out.

Maybe the Supreme Court should take it up.

Our founding fathers didn’t have time for bullshiite such as making certain duties of the 2nd highest powerful politician to be “ceremonial”. There was a reason they put it in, and Pence threw that reason-baby out with the reason-bathwater.

Investigating the tallly is not “overturning” the election; it may be preventing the wrong result from being implemented.

Pence used the democrats misconstrued version of what president Trump actually said when he gave his speech....
Trump actually said electors should be returned to states that have questionable election returns...

I wish someone would clarify what Pres. Trump is talking about.
But he could call the results into question, and if upon review, the results WERE correct, there is no “overthrow”. If the results were faulty, then steps are to be taken to rectify that situation, all spelled out right there in the Constitution. There's nothing in the Constitution that allows for that.
12 the Amendment has no way for the VP to change election results or call out irregularities.
"...–the President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted..." Constitutionally, that's it for the VP.
the "Electoral Count Act of 1887" which has since been codified as: "3 USC Ch. 1: PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS AND VACANCIES" is where the details of the VP responsibilities are defined.
The only place in that code the VP can do anything is section
§15. Counting electoral votes in Congress https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title3/chapter1&edition=prelim...Two tellers shall be previously appointed on the part of the Senate and two on the part of the House of Representatives, to whom shall be handed, as they are opened by the President of the Senate, all the certificates and papers purporting to be certificates of the electoral votes, which certificates and papers shall be opened,... Had a state sent in 2 sets of certificates, the VP is suppose to open both. That's it. There is no other duty for the VP in the law\codes. Congress takes care of irregularities.
If you have info otherwise, can you point me to it ?
Thanx.

“...rejected his claims...”
As I recall the courts never listened to his claims. They dismissed the claims for reasons I don’t recall.

What review? It's up to the states to send Congress a certified record of their electoral votes, and they did so. That record is to be read aloud by the VPOTUS in his role as president of the Senate. There's nothing in the Constitution that says the vice-president can choose to send the electoral vote count back to the states for any review.
I have no doubt that Biden is in the White House now due to widespread vote fraud and ballot harvesting - hopefully the voting reform measures taken by multiple states will help, but who knows. But there's nothing Pence could have done about it. I don't care about Pence and don't care if I ever hear from him again. But the anger at him is absurd and misplaced

In effect, those that claim the VP can overturn an election, want VP Harris to choose the next President?

Trump claimed he lost due to widespread voter fraud, but courts rejected his claims. No they didn't. In almost all cases, they found or invented a procedural reason not to examine his claims and the claims of those supporting his win. In the very very few cases that were actually litigated, he did pretty well iirc.
