BEIJING (AP) — Not enough food. Inedible meals. No training equipment. Some Olympic athletes unlucky enough to test positive for the coronavirus at the Beijing Olympics feel their quarantine conditions are making a bad situation much worse.
“My stomach hurts, I’m very pale and I have huge black circles around my eyes. I want all this to end. I cry every day. I’m very tired,” Russian biathlon competitor Valeria Vasnetsova posted on Instagram from one of Beijing’s so-called quarantine hotels.
Her problem wasn’t with any symptoms of the virus. It was the food.
Vasnetsova posted a picture Thursday of what she said was “breakfast, lunch and dinner for five days already” — a tray with food including plain pasta, an orange sauce, charred meat on a bone, a few potatoes and no greens.
She said she mostly survived on a few pieces of pasta because it was “impossible” to eat the rest, “but today I ate all the fat they serve instead of meat because I was very hungry.” She added she lost a lot of weight and “my bones are already sticking out.”

China: Xi’an residents in lockdown trade goods for food amid shortage
Welcome to communism.
Too funny—they sound like tourists complaining about the local food.
The Chinese athletes probably have great meals....
:-)
The food was terrible - and the portions so small!
Home field or country advantage.
That’s why NHL backed out of participating in the Olympics. Millionaires getting quarantined in an isolation cell? They would never put up with that.
You think the chicom athletes aren’t getting good food?
Absolutely no sympathy for my idiot going to, or supporting these Genocide Games.
And who knows what they will bring home with them that the Chinese people won’t be infected with.
The Chinese athletes are probably getting drug-enhanced food designed to maximize their performance.
Cheating needs to have its own separate event at all Olympics.
Only the CCP is capable of treating people worse than the US federal government.
I hope the Olympics has the worst ever ratings.
In fact, the Olympics should be disbanded. Let athletes compete internationally thorough their own sports organizations. That way this sort of mistreatment would never happen because athletes and their individual organizations would have more control. Any country that did this would never get to host international competitions. But with the Olympics, China will never be sanctioned or even criticized because of their political clout.
What we need is the Big Multinational Corporation Olympics—skip the dump nation-state middle man.

Oh wait....that's the new NYC public school vegetarian meal...
And does your idiot have a name?
The politics of the Olympics can many times overshadow the intent of the games. The competition standards to get the games, and they are intense, many times are not lived up to by the awarded countries. Most of the time it is security and logistics. But when the basics of comfort...food, water, and sleeping quarters are not up to minimum standards, it is not the mistake of the country awarded, unless they lied, it is the mistake of the political process of the awarding committee.
China has been in a severe food shortage since their lockdown in 2021. Local authorities have been providing parts the country with free food packages during the lockdown period. However, the strict lockdown measures implemented, and the resultant food insecurity it has caused, has led to backlash from citizens. So the food available isn’t even acceptable from the Chinese people.
They should have cancelled the Olympics as hey are out of control of providing their part of the event and are also, as the origin of the Virus and it’s morphs, placing citizens of other countries invited into their country into great peril. The USA and other countries should pull out their athletes and the sponsors should discontinue contracts determined unconscionable law and payment for further costs by China due to professional failures. It doesn’t help to put bad money after failed. And the safety and security of the athletes, as our representatives, should be foremost and it isn’t.

Vasnetsova passed her time in quarantine with a little detective work. When fetching the food left outside her door, she took a glance at the boxes left outside other rooms in her corridor, whose doors were labeled with signs to distinguish Olympians from other people working at the Games who tested positive, such as team staff.
She concluded the athletes were getting worse food, and underlined it with a picture of food served to her team doctor, who had also tested positive and was living two floors below. He had fresh fruit, a salad and prawns with broccoli.
“I honestly don’t understand, why is there this attitude to us, the athletes?!” she wrote.

The ChiComs are cheaters and sociopaths, that’s why. It’s how the ChiComs attained power and how they hold onto power. None of that old-school confucian or Daoism stuff for them. Those CCP rats will grab, cheat, and steal, their way to the top.
I. Ry everyday... reason number 999 why the olympics are a no for me. What a bunchbof vaccinated wussies.
“The politics of the Olympics can many times overshadow the intent of the games.”
Your post has a hidden assumption.
Whose intent?
All participants have their own agenda—there is no “intent” of all of the parties.
You are projecting your own vision of what the Olympics “should be” over what they are in the real world.
The first three sentences are identical to what some Cal State campuses are telling their dorm students: due to “labor and food shortages” dining hall hours have been cut and there are few options. No weekend hours at rec centers (meaning students on weekends have little else to do but party and illegally drink more!)
Their solution to the pre-paid meal plan problem was a good one though—bringing in local food trucks! Better than dining hall food anyway.
