What a New Johns Hopkins Study Has Found About the Impact of Covid-19 Lockdowns

A Johns Hopkins University study found the original Covid-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020 had “little to no” effect on mortality.

The meta-analysis looked at interventions such as school and business closures, travel bans, and efforts to limit gatherings to determine if there is empirical evidence to support lockdowns.

According to the study, “lockdowns have had little to no effect on COVID-19 mortality,” and in the U.S. and Europe, “only reduced COVID-19 mortality by .2% on average.”

One intervention that had “some effect” in terms of reducing Covid-19 mortality by 10.6 percent was the closing of non-essential businesses, “which is likely to be related to the closure of bars," the three researchers from Denmark, Sweden, and the United States write.

What the lockdowns did do is have “enormous economic and social costs.”

Researchers also pointed out other unintended consequences of lockdowns, such as rising unemployment, reduced schooling, an increase in domestic violence incidents, and surging drug overdoses.

From May 2020 to April 2021, the U.S. recorded 100,306 drug overdose deaths, a 28.5% increase from the 78,056 deaths that were recorded in the previous 12-month period, according to CDC data.

A study from the National Commission on COVID-19 and Criminal Justice last year found that domestic violence incidents increased 8.1% in the U.S. after lockdown orders were issued.

About 97% of U.S. teachers said that their students have experienced learning loss during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a Horace Mann survey last year.

The unemployment rate peaked nationwide at 14.8% in April 2020, but declined to 3.9% in December, which is still slightly higher than the 3.5% rate it was at in February 2020. (Fox News)

The researchers conclude that “lockdown policies are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.”

Were barbers non essential? Were they part of that 10% mortality reduction?

In general, if variants worsen, it won’t matter what gov’t mandates. People will lock themselves down. They won’t need a gov’t to tell them to stay off cruise ships and barber chairs and bar stools.

Doubt this study will be publicized in many places other than conservative outlets. The lies will simply continue.

Wouldn’t it finally be a good idea to suggest to Fauci that he resign.

This the same Johns Hopkins that hosted event 201 in November of 2019 war gaming the “SPARS” epidemic and pushing lockdowns as a solution? These are the very people who pushed this.

Now the want to act innocent and avoid repercussions for their crimes.

Just as we predicted. My wife who is very non-political said the same when we started the lock downs, businesses will fail, families will go bankrupt, drug use goes up, etc etc.... Now will the Elites listen and learn.

Nope.

Because they already knew that also, if fact they want the people to be dependent on them. They want a weak and sick population, so much easier to control those useless eaters.

Then we all lose.

"A Johns Hopkins University study found the original Covid-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020 had “little to no” effect on mortality."

I respectfully disagree with Johns Hopkins University on effectiveness of lockdown.

First of all, today's generation of US citizens are not trained for lockdowns. So unlike historically distinct emergency sirens for natural and enemy disasters for example, there is no clear lockdown alarm or procedure to activate a quick and effective drill-practiced lockdown to slow down spread of any contagious disease.

In fact, regardless that PDJT understandably did his best at the time (imo) to support pandemic alarmist Fauci, Pelosi was deliberately confusing (imo) "Orange Man Bad" lockdown by having media cameras follow her around in San Francisco's Chinatown.

Speaker Pelosi Visits SF's Chinatown To Show Support Amid Coronavirus Fears (2:14 min.)

The bottom line is that, as a consequence of no lockdown training, effectiveness of US response to virus lockdowns remains inconclusive imo.

And I'll be the first to offer a suggestion to improve US virus lockdown procedure. Once again emphasizing that I am not medically trained, Trump probably should have asked artificial lighting urbanites to consider start taking vitamin D3 supplements when he announced lockdown.

Corrections, insights welcome.
