Biden offers Russia access to NATO bases to ease Ukraine crisis: report
New York Post ^ | Feb. 2nd, 2022 | Mark Moore

The White House has reportedly floated an offer to Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow Kremlin access to key NATO bases in exchange for Moscow de-escalating tensions over its military buildup on Ukraine’s border.

The proposal would also involve discussions about Russia verifying that the US has not deployed Tomahawk cruise missiles to bases in Romania and Poland, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.

The reported offer would be contingent on agreement from US allies, including Romania and Poland, while Russia would also have to provide similar information about bases with ground-launched weapon systems.

The overture reportedly is intended to ease Putin’s fears that the US could target Russia with the missiles.

It never happened so we can only guess. Still barely relevant for the modern situation.

Might as well give Putin California

Since we got it from the Russians, it would just be returning it to its previous owners - if they would even want to clean up the mess - I think that they would prefer it to be our liability not theirs

Except they aren’t Western Europe, not what they think or not is a factor of big politics.
Russia is not irrational, it gets half of its export money from Europe and whatever invasion is going to disrupt it in a big way for no reward.
Cui bono is the main principle in judging the actions of foreign players.
You are simply buying Blinkin’s BS talking hair when the head is at stake.
How is the Russian invasion of West Europe is going to look like? It is not 1985. What are the objectives? Don’t be stupid.

I care not what Blinkin thinks, and neither do the Poles.

“not keep moving our missiles closer to the Russian frontier.”

Which US missiles are close to the Russian border?

And yet you are pushing his illogical agenda and then messing Poland with Western Europe.

“Except they aren’t Western Europe”

Ignorance.

Tell that to the rest of the EU and to the rest of NATO. None will agree with you and Putin on that.

I think you are completely confused at this point and trying to switch your mind off to negotiate the cognitive dissonance.
What Russia thinks is more important than the delusional NATO propaganda when it comes to the analysis of Russian plans and actions.

hard to believe even for Covid Joe that this is actually true ... even Neville Chamberlain didn’t give Hitler access to UK bases ...

What the nations of Western Europe think is more important than your delusional U.S.-Russia-centric view of everything.

You are absolutely illogical at this point. Poland is not Western Europe and what the people of Western Europe think is probably your suggestion you don’t even bother to put out here. If anything, West European business is interested in Russian trade and they are financing Russian energy projects.
Regarding Russian politics, what Russia thinks is omni-important. Russia pursues its policies based on its own judgment and is quite open about it.
