The White House has reportedly floated an offer to Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow Kremlin access to key NATO bases in exchange for Moscow de-escalating tensions over its military buildup on Ukraine’s border.
The proposal would also involve discussions about Russia verifying that the US has not deployed Tomahawk cruise missiles to bases in Romania and Poland, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.
The reported offer would be contingent on agreement from US allies, including Romania and Poland, while Russia would also have to provide similar information about bases with ground-launched weapon systems.
The overture reportedly is intended to ease Putin’s fears that the US could target Russia with the missiles.

He could put quite a few of his floating nuclear power stations along the cost.
Oh hell, NO!!
“You are absolutely illogical at this point. Poland is not Western Europe”
Ignorance. You don’t know nor speak for Western Europe.
Yes I heard Putin go into this during a news conference a few years ago. The Mark 41 VLS (Vertical Launch System) which is either deployed or to be deployed at NATO bases near Russia, will be used to house Standard SAMs (defensive). However the same launcher can quickly be configured to deploy nuclear-tipped Tomahawk cruise missiles, at least according to Putin.
Simply allowing Russian monitoring and inspection may not satisfy Russian concerns. Even if the Russians knew the switch was being made in real time, the rapid change from defensive to offensive capability would constitute strategic surprise.
LOL. Nor do you!
Biden's flying the white flag (before a shot's fired) - was this the goal all along? Commie Austin? Commie Milley?
That’s the point. The inspections aren’t going to solve a thing. Are inspectors going to get screwdrivers to check every munition? Are they going to sit on-site 24/7 to monitor if the inspected munitions are still in place or swapped for other munitions? The entire choice of technology and the placement of bases are very suspicious. Like Putin or not, but he has a point here.
“LOL. Nor do you!”
You think the only thing that matters in this is what Putin thinks - you said so. And that’s what Putin thinks too. And that is the problem in and for Western Europe, whom at least I listen to and you ignore. Your view puts everything in a U.S.-Russia centric view, leaving Western Europe out of it. That’s exactly what Putin wants the U.S. to do. Poland by the way was part of Western Europe before it was confiscated by the Soviet Union/Russia. The Poles know it, the Germans know and everyone but you knows it.
Well that isn’t what he has demanded, but please leave me out of your neocon war. Thanks.
You are attaching to me the points I never made and you are also ignorant in geography.
I never said that the only things matter is what Russia thinks. I only said that this is what shapes Russian policies, as contrary to Blinkin’s propaganda, entirely based on denial of common sense.
Poland is in Central Europe.
Russia is not interested in attacking Europe because it makes sense.
Russia doesn’t see Europe by itself as a threat, only the American strategic infrastructure based there.
What of the above is wrong and why exactly?
“Kurica nie ptica, polsza nie zagranica”
“A chicken is not a bird, Poland is not abroad.” - Russian saying.
“Poland is in Central Europe.”
In your mind and Putin’s and its a cold war artifact, which is part of your problem and Putin’s; living in the past and trying to rebuild lost glories.
What kind of missiles are those?
Where do you live in Russia?
LOL. I heard it, it seemed true in the 1970s, not anymore.
It sure isn’t “abroad” for a bunch of Ukrainians now, they are moving to Poland in droves.
What lost glories? What are you talking about? I asked you several simple questions to clarify your position. You never answer any of them and keep retelling illogical neocon propaganda. Why?
Well, it is a conscious policy of the Polish government using them to replace the original population, where a lot of workers moved to Germany.
Well hopefully now they’ll get along better than they did during WWII.
