NFL star Tom Brady on Tuesday officially announces retirement.
The 44-year-old Brady made the announcement on Istagram, following unconfirmed news reports this past weekend.
It doesn’t surprise me. Brady has nothing left to accomplish. He is at the age that severe injury and conditions like arthritis become much more likely and he got all the money in the world. Tom is still in good health and has half his life left to enjoy it. Certainly he loves the game and is at the top of his craft but deciding to retire makes a lot of sense.

Brady is the GOAT precisely because football is number one. His mind body heart and emotions are dedicated to football. I don't blame her.
smiling causes wrinkles...
I hate having to say that any QB could possibly be better than Joe Montana but I have to admit that Brady was. I guess. Probably.
How many Hall of Famers did Montana have around him, versus Brady? And I’m not counting Randy Moss for Brady, who only went there at the tail-end of his career.
Maybe Gronk will go to Canton, but other than that?
Tom Brady is a freak. No other way around it, for a player to play in ANY professional sport to the age of 44 (except for maybe Golf and a few others) is unusual.
To play professional football at ANY position that is not the kicker, well, that is just bizarre, freakish and odd.
All those funny rumors about Gisele having some kind of Satanic shrine she prays to before games, well...maybe there may be something to that.
For longevity, I agree, MBA over NFL is a no-brainer. I see these quarterbacks who make a living out of running around with the ball, and I think: That ain’t gonna fly...even with all the protections quarterbacks get now. It will catch up, and those things accumulate over time. You might play as a running quarterback to the age of 32, but you are going to be beat up, and you aren’t going to play until you are 36 or 38.
Every time Tom signed a contract extension for way below market value Pats should have been thanking her. A lot of the Pats’ dynasty is because she was rich so he was cheap and they could keep a good roster around him.
Good point. And it’s not as if Tom does a lot of endorsements, compared to other players.
If Yoko Ono had married Sonny Bono, she'd be Yoko Ono Bono.
Brady was drafted as a catcher by the Montreal Expos out of high school.
I always figured Brady wanted to outlast Blanda, although, be fair, I don’t think Blanda was still playing QB at Tom’s age.
That says it all about how long Tom played, LOL.
I should qualify that if you are considered a “can’t miss” MLB prospect, as Murray was.
There is that, no doubt. But money was never the main driving force for Brady, IMO. That fact that she was rich made that easier for him to drive himself instead of having the market do it.
And she moans. Or screams.
The pouty look is popular in modeling. I never understood why. Not sure what she acts like at home.
It makes sense to retire given the concussions. Brent Favre has complained about memory loss already. He will miss playing the games.
He certainly got in the side cash. But that never stops anybody else.
