Why Trump may choose to run third-party in 2024
The hill ^ | 01/29/2022 | DOUGLAS MACKINNON

During the 1992 election, Texas billionaire Ross Perot managed to get on the ballot as an independent presidential candidate in all 50 states and garnered 19 percent of the vote. It was a remarkable feat that — in the eyes of some Republicans, including President George H.W. Bush and his son, George W. Bush — tipped the election to Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton.

Keep in mind, that percentage of voters chose the third-party candidate even after it was reported that Perot, who loved conspiracies, claimed he saw five men with rifles on his front lawn and, later, that the Bush campaign tried to ruin his daughter’s wedding. Had he not made such outlandish claims, his percentage of the electorate might have been much higher.

Why are they bringing up 1992 with Bush and Perot?? I don't think 2024 is going to be like that.

1. Complete speculation. There are no facts to suggest that the thesis might come true.
2. Ann Coulter should STFU. Her comments help absolutely no one.
3. Much as I love Trump, I agree with the author that we need a fighter like Trump without the rough edges and baggage. With those we start with two many people who simply will not vote for our candidate. We also need someone younger who can serve two terms

This is bull ship.

You know where this comnes from? President Donald Trump is shaking the pillars of Mitch McConnel’s world.

This will prove interesting.

I expect that Trump supporters now control over 70% of the GOP convention delegates.

That would be a stupid move and guarantee a democrat victory.

If Trump were start a new party — let’s call it the Pariot Party — that party would pick up more than half of Republicans, a bit less than half of Democrats, and about half of Independents. It would become the new majority party overnight.

I can see Trump (I), possible DeSantis (R), being a possible issue. But, 2024 is eons away at this point, things will probably be a bit different in two years.

they want two republicans in the general election, Trump as independent and whoever the party nominee is. So Biden can win with under 40% of the vote.

Even though this is dangerous and will split the vote it needs to be done. The new party just might eviscerate the GOP which is hopelessly infected with Rinos and Swamp creatures. Though the Left might claim the win as likely they already are, this will throw their agenda and support into a tailspin of destruction.

This is one of those vapid and baseless pre-written articles that the journalist saves to use when he has writer’s block or has had a rough night.

I’ve been saying that exact same thing.

And I think your numbers are extremely conservative.

Who would stay in the GOP if Trump created a new party? I think it would be more like 80% that went with him, And a good deal of Democrats maybe close to 50%.

It's THE HILL.

They would love nothing better than for Trump to run third party.

What they fear the most is the RINO purge that is about to be unleashed in this year's primaries followed by a red tidal wave in the Midterms, leading to republican-controlled state legislatures with a majority of conservatives over RINOs. These new conservative-controlled legislatures will be overseeing the 2024 election and won't allow the Rats to steal it as they did in 2020.

That's what The Hill and all leftists fear the most.

The only ones who should be forming a third party are the RINO traitors after they are sent packing in the primaries.

The left is looking for an excuse to do riots. 500 of them in Trump’s last year alone. Shall WE give it to them? Don’t count on big city mayors holding them back even if it is their job.
