I’m here in the southwest region of RI; in bed with the flu and watching the storm out my window. We’re getting some strong gusts and sideways snow, but it is a fluffy snow as opposed to wet and heavy.
My husband has the generator ready to deploy-because we live in a very woody area with tall white pines that seem to snap in half during every gusty storm, and leave us without power for days.
As far as I can see, there’s about 8 or 9 inches so far. Lights have flickered but remain on. No plows, they said they’re not even going to attempt until the storm passes.
Looks like just another winter storm to me, and I lived through the ‘78 blizzard.

It hit the sides of the buildings, so that they looked like the ground. I remember one storm like that, and our front door was completely blocked; but if we went out the back door there was no problem. Crazy.

I hope it’s not a repeat of the 77/78 blizzard. In that one we got 20 some odd inches of snow. Before storm crews could finish the clean up...only 2 or 3 days later, we got struck with a blizzard and another 2+ feet of snow, a very windy blizzard. People were walking on top of their cars trying to find them.
I’ve got gypsy blood so I’ve lived in a lot of places. My hat’s off to new england storm crews. They are the best in the nation.đź‘Ť
3.000 vehicles stranded on Rt. 128. I was delivering milk in the Lynn area the day after. First stop (Clifton Sq. news) sold 80 cases in one hour. Lots of stories, praise God
I lived in Providence RI about 20 yrs ago or so.
You’ve got the flu and my nose has been running so hard I can’t keep up with the Kleenex! HA!
It’s sun shinning here all day but 4 degree temperature and wind makes it so they have warnings of frost bite etc. But no snow yet...it’s about 12:00 am I don’t think it’s going to reach inland here in Western PA.

Unfortunately, the kids with those "elements" attached to them were ALSO part of this migration. That made for easy preying on the good kids, who were parentless from 2:30-7pm. The result was a spike in Pocono gang activity. In certain cases the gangs were in residential developments where local police couldn't get in because the developers told them "nothing here..move along...we got it" because they didn't want this problem getting out in the open.

We have them in north Jersey as well; Rutherford NJ (right next to East Rutherford, home of the NY Giants and Jets) is a dry town. They are anomalies because NJ actually treats drunk driving fairly lightly compared to other states (maybe a holdover from the Dutch liberalism of the original New Netherland founders of northeastern NJ); it isn’t a crime here but a driving offense. It is a double-edged sword, as you don’t get a criminal record but you also can’t get pretrial intervention, trial by jury, or expungement (stays on your driving record permanently). Even more strange, lawmakers here are trying to change DUI license suspensions to accommodate jobs (you can’t drive except to and from work).
Think of the great snow cover your side-garden is getting, though! You won’t need to water that area until August, next year! ;)
Shoveling in the windy storm I actually wore a mask (which I normally do not) - to help keep the blasts of snow out of my face!

Yes, here you could get your tires flattened; a neighbor had TWO flattened (so the spare doesn’t help).
