Organizers say they are expecting “hundreds of trucks and vehicles” to attend and participate in the blockade stopping border-crossings in both directions “until all mandates and restrictions are lifted.”
A group of Alberta farmers say they are poised to try and blockade the Coutts border crossing in conjunction with the Freedom Convoy demonstration in Ottawa.
Organizer Nick Friesen, from outside Taber, said he expects truckers from all over Southern Alberta to take part — with drivers from the US also blockading the border on their side.
“I know of one trucking group that’s sending 30 trucks, another company is sending four, we have truckers coming from La Crête, Peace River, Grande Prairie; farmers are bringing trucks and trailers,” Friesen told the Western Standard.
A circulating post on social media is “calling on all semis, trucks, SUVs and cars” to join organizers in and around the Lethbridge Flying J and the 43 Street area on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. MST.
“On this day, the Albertans hold the line to take back our given freedoms,” said the post.
"Come join us in helping to get our freedoms back.”

“A lot of people wanted to be a part of the Ottawa convoy but couldn’t take that much time away from work,” said Friesen.
"This way, they can take part in this blockade and we’re working in conjunction with the Ottawa convoy.”
Friesen said he and other organizers will marshal participants down to the Coutts border south of Lethbridge Saturday morning and set up the blockade on the Alberta side, while organizers in the US have hundreds coming to block the south side of the border.
“We are focused on (Alberta Premier) Jason Kenney; either his government backs down on the mandates or we’re not moving,” said Friesen.
Admitting the blockade will “cause problems for some,” Friesen said the group he represents feels their hand has been forced.
“We believe we have to put our foot down,” said Friesen.
“We’ve gotten to the point where we have to make a stand and put some pressure on our government.
“I’ve been a cross-border trucker for 20 years and have been crossing the border for two years safely during the pandemic. Now, all of the sudden, they’re locking up the border for unvaccinated truckers.
“There is no evidence truckers were spreading COVID. There is no need for these vaccine passports.”
Friesen said he and others are planning for a two-week stay at the border but will stay longer if necessary. He also said a number of southern Alberta Hutterite colonies will join the blockade as well as help support protestors with meals.
Cpl. Deanna Fontaine from Alberta RCMP media relations told the Western Standard RCMP are aware of the planned blockade and are “planning measures to ensure public safety.”
“The public does have the right to protest, however, we have to make sure the public remains safe.”
Fontaine confirmed RCMP officers will be at the border for the duration of the blockade.

Unfortunately, I suspect that in desperation, the elites will order violence against these protesters.
Perhaps Maxime Bernier will be Canada's version of Boris Yelchin, at the collapse of the USSR.
They might ask their good friends in the CCP for help they have experience with such situations

If they do, they will just galvanize this movement like they have never seen.
I would compare it to throwing gasoline on a fire, but expect it would go far beyond that. I think it would motive the citizens everywhere at every level.
They aren’t crumbling.
This was always the plan.
Squeeze until they can’t take it anymore, then relax some of the restrictions, but not all.
Rinse and repeat.
After a half-dozen cycles you have them where you want them.

Not sure how the ‘cancelled their fund’ thing started. What I’ve understood is that GoFundMe has protocols in place for removing the funds (there needs to be formal plans submitted for how and where the money is going etc.) I don’t know enough about that to comment much but these sounded like some legit reasons... regardless, the convoy organizers have already been able to avail themselves of some of the funds.
