Two New Polls on Trump vs. DeSantis
NR ^ | January 28, 202 | Could DeSantis Beat Trump?

Posted on 01/28/2022 3:17:48 PM PST by conservative98

Two new polls show Florida governor Ron DeSantis with a realistic shot of defeating Donald Trump in a 2024 primary.

The former president remains the strong favorite, but he’s under 50 percent in the latest YouGov survey:

GOP Presidential Polling:

Trump: 46%
DeSantis: 21%
Pence: 6%
Haley: 6%
Carlson: 2%

YouGov / January 24, 2022 / n=1568 / Onlinehttps://t.co/axPvpnEU7N— Polling USA (@USA_Polling) January 28, 2022

A new poll by Echelon Insights shows that DeSantis’s position has improved in the last few months in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup:

TRUMP v. DESANTIS two-way GOP primary:

Trump 57%
DeSantis 32%

In October, this was Trump +40. Today, it's Trump +25. pic.twitter.com/1vYJYby3EN— Patrick Ruffini (@PatrickRuffini) January 27, 2022

As pollster Patrick Ruffini notes, Trump’s lead over DeSantis is only 16 points among Republicans who have heard of the Florida governor. We are of course still 24 months from the kickoff of presidential primaries and caucuses — plenty of time for average Republican voters to get to know DeSantis.

I don’t trust National Review. They attacked Trump both elections, and some there supported his impeachment over the call.

Normally a 25% deficit in the polls is not considered a sign of hope.

It can’t be - the president and VP have to be from different states.

“Why does that bother you?”

For starters, JR doesn’t like them around trolling people here.

Not at this stage - 25% can be erased with effective advertising and campaigning. The only thing I don’t like about Trump is his inability to effectively select the right individual. I’ve never seen anyone betrayed by so many people.

Trump’s recent endorsement of Ortagus tells me that Javanka is still in charge and that repulses me.

I’d still say I’d vote for him over DeSantis but I’m not thrilled with Trump. He hasn’t grown in wisdom in my opinion since he came on the national stage. Continuing to push HIS vaccine is exhibit A.

“So a Trump - de Santis ticket it is.”

Let’s start a rumor of a Trump/Hillary ticket. Bet that gets more clicks than this.

I suspect he genuinely doesn’t know if he’s running. But I get the impression he feels like he’s had enough of Washington and I’m sure Melania has.

Did you watch the last rally? I heard Trump talked about freedom of choice and didn’t say one word about the vaccine.

That doesn’t answer the question. That’s hiding behind someone’s apron.

If Trump decides to run, DeSantis won’t. DeSantis is young (early 40s) and isn’t stupid. He has 30 years or more to run for President.

He might accept a VP nomination to run with Trump.

Why the hell are they doing a pill like this 3 years from the election?!?!

Because the next 3 years the same people who stole 2020 are going to do everything they can to stop Trump…

So if they can turn DeSantis into the second coming, only to make him Satan the day after the election they will do it

Trump was booed at the prior rally and now seems to understand it’s best not to talk about the vaccine. But to his credit, he never would force the vaccine on you.

“The only thing I don’t like about Trump is his inability to effectively select the right individual. I’ve never seen anyone betrayed by so many people.”

One of the main things I dislike about Trump is his level of communication—he is so inarticulate that it’s almost embarassing. How I wish he would hire some good speechwriters who could write him some precise, focused and articulate lines for his speeches.
