Over 70,000 student borrowers have qualified for debt forgiveness since the Department of Education overhauled the program last fall. But another deadline is looming.
It should be bankrupted, but of course it can’t be.
Nope....they took out the loans knowing the terms. You borrow you pay it back.
Slow Joe BiXiden has an ongoing, increasing debt to me that he needs to repay.
Above all, completely end any form of government funding.
Claw back the tuition.
What about the worthless colleges with their worthless degrees? Let the college eat it!
How about....
NO!
Thank you.
Cancel interest on the debt. Sue the institution for fraud to have the debt transferred to that entity. Many universities have large endowments that could cover the debt.
I have a problem with cancelling this debt because our family worked hard to graduate three kids with as little debt as possible, only one had $35K debt for a PharmD (6years) and that was taken care of with the signing bonus
Yet the big corps who took the big PP loans for Covid didn’t have to pay it back. Guess it’s easier to screw college students than big privileged corporations.
Disagree. They signed a promissory note and agreed to pay back the loans with interest. Millions of others paid back their loans in full, or their parents paid with cash after saving and investing carefully for 18 years. Half this nation didn’t go to college, many because they couldn’t afford it. Had they known their loans would be written off, perhaps they would have.
Moreover, more student loans are disbursed daily. Should we disburse them daily, and write them off the next day? If so, we’ve changed the definition of the word “loan.”
College degrees aren’t worthless; they are extremely valuable over a career lifetime. Particularly if the degree is chosen wisely.
“Some people have paid all they can each month and their balances still go up. I agree with forgiving most student loans. The colleges they went to are worthless anyway so it’s like they were sold a product under false pretense.”
Then I assume you would support the refund of the $100 a month for about 17 years I put in to a college fund to pay for my son’s college so he would not have to take loans?
No, you should have known better being a Conservative.
Don’t care how worthless they consider the college or their degree. They made the deal and need to pay for it. I can’t believe any individual this day and time (no matter what their tender age is) isn’t aware what a scam these loans are and go along just to get that sheepskin so they can continue to receive unearned advantages over those who were fiscally responsible. I’ve personally witnessed engineers on the job who were unable to perform basic math. It’s been a scheme for as long as there has been loans/financial aid on both the part of the colleges and students. The taxpayer needs to cast all of this adrift and the students who were scammed (or not) need to pony up.
“. . . screw college students . . ..”
What about those married (or unmarried) 25-28-year olds who paid about 20% on college costs and the remaining 80% of the loans on cars, grass, and general living expenses to avoid working an extra (or ANY) job?
Don’t hold the taxpayers responsible. Have the college repay the loans out of their endowments.
I paid mine off. Are they going to refund me?
Not to mention they took class after class knowing how worthless those classes were.
Am all for student loan “forgiveness” as long as it comes out of the endowments of the woke Universities that exploited dumb 18-year olds for the student loan dollars.
The perps are the colleges for offering worthless courses of no intellectual content, the students who have no intellectual abilities, and the corrupt gubmit for allowing student loans that will never be paid.
Eff them all and to all: suck it up, suckers.
