Harris would get creamed in a Senate hearing. She is a toxic combo of stupid and unlikable with a heavy dollop of phony.

Kamala must resign first.

Then, the senate can reject the nomination.

Winner Two-fer

Yes, but in reality, a VP is a useless position, and almost slotted in. To be a Supreme Court judge you have a certain background and mindset.

Or Nancy since she just announced that she is not retiring and, is I’m fact, running again for the House.

Confirmation of the VP requires only “a majority”, not 60. There’s the issue of a potential filibuster, but I suspect that wouldn’t be applied to a confirmation vote.

I still see Stacy Abrams as a strong contender.

Unfortunately.

>>she doesn’t have the juice to warrant such a plum job.<<

More reason for Brandon to appoint her.

Technically, you don't have to be a lawyer to be on SCOTUS. But, in reality, being a lawyer isn't enough. You need judicial experience. Harris doesn't have it. Harriet Myers had had a better background for the courts, but she got slammed.

It would also be bad for Democrats. Sure, she'd make the right decision, but she wouldn't be helping their team in the right way.

Harris is inappropriate for the role.

Well, she would automatically promote Sotomayor to Second Dumbest Justice. :)

Filibusters do not apply to Supreme Court picks. If they did President Trump would not have gotten a single justice. All you need is 51. If the Republicans close ranks she would have to break the tie by voting for herself. Is that legal?

Really? 60 votes? Does the filibuster rule apply to filling a Vice Presidential vacancy?

Elect Diana Ross. She’s black, she’s a woman and she already has experience as a Supreme.

Working hard at academic endeavors just is not Kamala’s thing, but I guess she can have her staff write her opinions and then treat them like $4it when Roberts tells her that the opinion needs to be rewritten.

I don't think the Republicans would filibuster, except in an extreme case, but they would need at least one Republican to vote for her.

But the worst part for the Democrats would be if she was actually on the courts. She's not a judge, she would be a liability.
